I think using the Basius option for "rank and file" and MA for leaders/heroes is a viable option, as it will give the special characters a little more height and make them slightly easier to see on the table.  At least, that's my current plan (which is subject to change)...  ::P:

Canceled my pledge, though I still can only drool at Basius without going in on them =P But I really don't need so many bases of the same type, and I'd rather save that money for something I could use more ^_^

I still hope CMOn does well though ^_^

I don't think CMoN has anything to worry about. I've been following along with your coraldrax wip, what your doing is brilliant. I think you have the basing/sculpting skillz to create your own fancy pants bases all on your own. Me? not so much. Which is why this (Basius) product is so appealing.

Edited for clarification, cause, well I thought I was posting in the other thread ;^)

You know? The advantage to me is that for the CMoN bases I don't need to putter around with putty and all that. ::P:

Your Dark Side may be easier, more seductive, but CMoN is still quicker. :poke:

Addit: another thing that keeps me from pledging for the Basius 2 KS is that their main page is a mess. It looks like they set someone loose on the font & image library and let him stream-of-conscience until he passed out. And yet still no info on shipping prices. Oh, look! Basius 2 has its own thread

This is the position I'm in as well....still haven't decided whether to pledge for this one or not yet, but the appeal is that not only are there bases that I do like in these sets (trash, mystic and tech specifically), but that they also require less preparation to be able to use them.

Of course, the fact that I'd be getting 80 x 30mm bases, 12 x 40mm bases and 2 x 50mm bases for ~$100 including shipping, compared to paying $190 for the same set of bases, is also a fairly significant factor.

I can understand that they wouldn't work for everyone, but as I do play Malifaux and a couple of other games that use this style of base I do have a use for them.

But I'm also not in a position where I have to decide on one or the other so may decide to pledge for Basius as well, depending on shipping costs...

Looks like Dwarven Forge is going to have another KS this year (including castles!) so if the bases don't go below $.50 apiece, I'll drop out.

I'm kicking myself for not noticing the KoW bases on the KoW KS awhile back. Of course, the pics of the bases were ridiculously small, but...

yes, they were included as part of the core set, but we are only able to compare the add-on price. The Bones II bases are also much simpler so I would expect these to cost a bit more.

With WoK, the 50c bases were when the project hit 250k. If this project had made significantly more then I think 50c bases were probably reasonable, but when the project is currently sitting at 6 themes unlocked, and 10k per mould (each mould contains half what is in a set now), CMON is probably wearing a greater proportion of the costs than they thought they would be at this point in the project.

The current retail price of these in resin would put a single set at about $75, so $22 is a fairly significant saving over this, and the reason I am considering pledging (I'm also primarily a wargamer so have uses for the larger sets)

The mystic bases look really nice ... and then I realized I'd have to paint them to look like that and maybe the Chaos bases are more my speed.  I'm still on the fence for this one.  I wish they had some smaller and larger bases.  30, 40 and 60 mm are kind of all variants of "large" for me.  I'd really like 25 and 70 mm bases.
