What hits me here isn't the glazing technique per se, but the amazing taste you show for mixing colours!

you took the wheel of colours, breaked any rules for contrasting colors, and made it work!

there are all the basic colours mixed in there and none seems out of place!

Really nice!

Thank you very much! I saw that set in... Michael's the other day, I think. I probably need to look up a tutorial on inks and what all they do. I remember running across something about them in the Reaper LTPKs, but I haven't really used one since then. I think I'd probably order the Inktensity set from Scale 75 as I use a lot of their paints. I'll definitely have to try out this technique!

Kharsin,

The Inktensity set looks like it could work. They are basically the same thing as the Liquitex Artist Acrylic Inks, having an acrylic base that makes them act like paint more than traditional ink.

Here is one of my old posts on using the inks. They can be treated like paint and blended also, or mixed with paint.

I ordered this one from the latest KS.  I'm excited to try to paint it, though this amazing paint job is actually quite intimidating.  With that paint guide I may try painting it exactly like this to try the technique, though I fear my results will not come even close and might look like a big mess.  But still I'm excited to try.  It's a beautiful sculpt.

Spooky: I had a nightmare 20 years ago about crossing a stream using fallen logs and getting attacked by a giant gar right in the middle while straddling two logs... What body part do you think that toothy monster went for? Yeah, you guessed right. This fig looks just like the horror from my nightmare all those years ago. Very nice scuplt. Great paint job.

That is a beautiful dire ichthyosaur. I'm just drinking in the color transitions.

The thing to remember is that none of the rules of color mixing are actually rules. And as this figure shows, they can be broken good and hard to gorgeous effect.
