DSM-7925 - Frog King by Jasonator

Recommended Posts

This is an incredible amount of fun to paint.  The details on this miniature are a sheer joy

to encounter.  I got playful with this one, it called for something to set it off.  I took my time, and got some wonderfu

suggestions along the way.  So this piece can be quite the challenge for your brush control !

Trying to push the color scale up a bit.

I highly recommend painting the Frog King, I think I spent a major amount of time just laughing as

I got into it.  It reminds me of Jackie Gleason actually.

Here is the Frog King.

C&C, as always, is appreciated.

He has quite the imperious air about him!

I really like the color scheme - especially the fluorescent leggings.

Great work as always, sir. For some reason this guy makes me think of the boggard king from one of the PF Adventure Paths.

Do frogs even see in color? He might be quite garish otherwise!!! :upside:

Nicely done on the paint job. Seriously though, it might be time to put down the Darksword Frogs Jasonator.

I think I am emerging from all the Frog !

I have a pile of Tom Meier that have been waving all sorts of weapons at me, and since I have charming Gueneviere to paint,

I will give up the purple and the Green combo's now.

Jay is the frog master! The King looks very regal and is very well done. We can't wait to see if you'll do a diorama of all 3 frogs....

Very nicely done. The purple with the green works very well, and his eyes are quite spectacular.

He's lovely. I like the purple you used on his body and the leggings are splendid. Nice job!

Thanks Anne;

I Love your New Avatar by the way :;):

I think the next miniature is going to be Gueneivere by Tom Meier !

Think I've done enough frogs for now !

ROFL.

Thanks for the Great Comments and feedback !

I can honestly say that this one was a hoot to do.

Now I look forward to going back to my 25mm mini's.

I enjoy painting all the miniatures I have done, they all teach me something.

I especially like the 25mm ones due to the necessity of absolute brush control.

It keeps me totally focused, and with little room to make an error.

I do intend to go on tangents though with other Miniatures.

Got a couple of curves lined up, even for me !

Thanks for your help and support !

Jay

I had a lot of fun this this one, On top of making him fly, I really wanted to make it look like he was from a black and white movie. Doing that but keeping everything  distinct with such a limited color palette was challenging. I really enjoyed this project.

      I hope you like it.

And good evening to all towards the end of the year of 2020!

So I just finished this one this morning, another Wood Elf sculpted by Tom Meier for Thunderbolt Mountain Miniatures and recently re-released by Ral Partha Legacy.

His eyes are very small, and I tried to stay "in the lines" but they may have slightly gotten out of their orbits.

My only other problem here was trying to figure out the colors, but hopefully what I eventually chosen doesn't clash.

      Anyhoos, enjoy!

Warren of Vile Fungi is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm EST on Friday, November 1. It will include over 2 dozen individual fungoid-based miniatures developed and sculpted by Pedro Navarro. He's been working on this project for over 2 years in collaboration with Mortal Arrow. It's a deep dive into heroic, fantastic, and terrifying fungal beings from the 1970's to the present. Ascomoids, Gas Spores, Basidironds, Ustilagors, corrupted Myconids, and heroic Myconids are just some of the many hand-sculpted miniatures from Pedro.

The project itself will be live for only 2 weeks, so please consider supporting this effort by Mortal Arrow and Pedro Navarro. Every little bit of aid is important to us, so we kindly ask that you follow this project at the link below:

You can see more details about the miniatures on the Mortal Arrow Facebook and Pedro's blog here:
      http://mr-bugman.blogspot.com/

We will be posting details and updates on this thread as well.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help and enthusiasm!!! We are very excited to bring scary, and heroic, fungi to peoples around the globe!!

Winter Salutations to you cold weather Reaper ptarmigans!

So I'd mentioned in a previous post how Ral Partha Legacy, a sister company of Iron Wind Metals, has recently opened up and one of their ranges they have acquired is Tom Meier's Thunderbolt Mountain Miniatures.  So here is one of them a Wood Elf Lady:

I really love these miniatures. I'm used to painting Ral Partha stuff, but these are quite a bit different, as the detail is so fine and detailed.  The eyes and some of the jewelry is so small and hard to paint.   Even though they are 30 mm, they are quite realistically proportioned so lots of the details aren't exaggerated.

Anyhoos, hope you enjoy, and if you've got a few moments check out the Ral Partha Legacy page!
