14501: Scuttlebones by Siri!

Based him off a Sally Lightfoot Crab. Because I like my undead creatures to be bright and colorful. Makes them all the more tragic

Base is originally a Corpse Field base by Secret Weapon from my Bag O' Crap, which I modified into coral reef shallows. I imagine he's rising out of the ocean and scuttling up onto shore. 

Don't know if it's very noticeable, but I used a thin layer of realistic water over the base and I dripped some into the hole in his shell as if he's still got water in there after coming up out of the waves

He is beautifully nasty! Very beautiful shading for an undead crab, and unfortunately, I think no amount of crab boil would make him tasty. Kudos to this awesome crab!

I'm used to cooked crabs being red in color, so yours has me imagining Scuttles being cooked alive but never had the chance of being properly eaten. Scuttles fell back into the sea to rot for some time before being accidentally imbued with necrotic magic, and now Scuttles has one goal in mind. Kill the being that cooked it alive and eat that being instead. MUAHHAHA *ahem*

 

Lovely colors and liking the base. It's a little difficult to see the application of the water in the pictures. Perhaps it's more subtle in real life, but I remember reading people having to apply several layers of the realistic water for it to show up in photographs. :)

Realistic water can be a pain to work with! I ended up putting some in a Reaper dropper bottle and it was much more manageable for using in "The Race." Otherwise, I'd never been able to pull off all of the puddles. I'm sure Scuttlebones is suitably moist IRL!

I did the same thing with putting some in a dropper bottle, love how easy that makes it.

The Living Impaired Crab along with his/her/whatever's immediate surroundings is a GORGEOUSLY colorful creation. Your use of a STUNNING array of colors & your SPLENDID brushwork are FANTASTIC...VERY WELL DONE!

THanks everyone ^.^ I am happy with how he came out. He might be a bit TOO bright, but he looks that way in pictures, in person he doesn't blend with his base quite so much

I want Tim Burton to make that into an animated feature film.

And it also makes me wonder how undeath affects invertebrates. No bones, so no skeletons per se. Are zombie crabs with or without their shells? What about skeleton sharks where the bones are all cartilage?

I'd imagine crabs are much like Scuttlebones here, just a walking shell with no meaty bits inside

Sharks..hmm...I guess it depends on how decomposed they are. Zombie shark would have fleshy bits and probably a falling apart cartilage skeleton, but a full scale skeleton shark? Maybe just jaws floating around =P Since those are what most often gets preserved

Skeleton sharks are just swarms of animated teeth. Very nice work Siri now it just needs captain Razig to command it to conquor the living land lubbers of Taltos.
