That is another worry that is preventing me from scraping up the funds. It could cost me even more later

I know, but (personally) when a product like this is available (at not a horrible price point), I can't justify spending money on scenic bases anymore. These + Sculpey = money in my bank account, over the long term.

DSMiles, you are totally right that it's a great product, and it makes buying scenic bases not really necessary.  That said, they were available at retail before and I believe they will be again.  I've got a kitchen reno starting in a month & a half, so for me it doesn't make sense to rush.

If the stamp I really wanted wasn't unlocked yet, I might have a different opinion, but I'm after the forest floor one, and that's been available before.

Point is ... I won't be able to find them anywhere in a gaming store in my vicinity. So I will have to order from their website ... which will be at least as expensive as the KS is now ... and I personally don't mind waiting five months or so if that means I can save 5 Pounds.

and: let's not forget there are almost 30 days to come ... let's see what more backers, more money etc can unlock.

It makes sense, but since I only do scenic bases to pretty up miniatures that aren't going to be gamed with, as teh ones that are gamed with my husband prefers to have less busy bases for, I can't justify the pricing on it. Not when it'd just be for me to do something fun with =P

Still would be awesome, it's a really cool idea

These are not likely to be available in a store, especially in the US. They do have a website and they sell their products there so in that respect there is no rush to jump into the KS. These new pads are very different from the original design though. The most important aspect being that they are two sided so you are essentially get 2 for the price of 1 plus whatever discount we are getting from the KS standpoint. Shipping is going to an issue no matter how you purchase it.

Siri, if I can afford 4, I'll send you a Dungeon pad. (If you promise me some hard-copy artwork in exchange.  ^_^ )

I'd rather they "unlock" the shipping rates update than more tiles. These are definitely out of my normal price range but I pledged for 2. Hopefully shipping won't make me reconsider. If it's very pricey I may be down to one but if it's inexpensive I may move up to three.

Yeah, if they run out of pads, maybe they can channel some of the excess into shipping for us ROW backers.

Greenstuff is generally not my preferred putty for basing. I would recommend Apoxie Sculpt, MagiSculpt or Milliput over GS for basing for most uses. I've used them with my Happy Seppeku stamps with no complaints. The three I mentioned are all slightly water soluble, so when you are trying to cover up an integral base, it's easy to smooth the edges with a little water. They also dry hard, so they can be sanded, etched and chipped, so you can easily work them to get hard edges, or add wear and tear and so on. (Which is also true of baked Sculpey.)

Greenstuff (and ProCreate) are great products and probably the best for sculpting fine details or doing full figures, particularly if those are figures that are going to be moulded for production, but they are not the only, best or most cost effective answers for many activities of the home hobbyist.

There it is.

Thanks Wren and Qwkysilver for remembering about it

Broke down and fell to the dark side...  I think I can find 5 that I really want and if shipping gets really bad, then I can have them shipped to one of our UK plants and I can pick it up later.

I use the Happy Seppuku pads a lot since I broke down and got them, although I really feel they could have gone for a bit more texture variation on some of the plainer bases.  For HS at least I use a blend of magic sculpt and greenstuff.  picks up detail really well and also hardens to the rock like consistency.

if you use vasilene or lip balm to keep the mold from sticking, just remember to wash before painting...
