Basius 2: The Deluxe Stamp Pad Terrain Tile & Basing System

I have used the yellow milliput for several Happy Seppuku bases now, and it has worked well.

Edit to add: I have not used it for any deep-relief stamps...and I'm not sure it would work as well as an epoxy putty for that purpose, as I find it has less structural coherence before it cures. By which I mean I would expect it to break apart when being removed from a deep stamp unless it were allowed to cure on the stamp. Again, this is my suspicion, not my experience, as I have not used the milliput for this purpose.

I've stamped with yellow milliput. If you mix it, place a glob on a base, wet it, then stamp it doesn't work well. You absolutely have to give it a solid 15 minutes or more of wait time after mixing before you stamp. That lets it firm up just enough to keep the stamps detail. It will still be soft, just not as soft as when it's freshly mixed. Water can also make the surface runny. If you use water as the release agent just use a little on the stamp. That's been my experience but I'm definitely no expert.

With green stuff I just give the stamp a little spray of water (got a small optical glass cleaner bottle with plain old water in it for this).  That worked fine.  But I also let the green stuff set for a bit as well first and got better imprints.  But the Seppuku stuff isn't as "deep" as the Basius 2 stuff looks.

Greenstuff is a little on the expensive side for basing whole armies.

I'm just basing table top stuff for Pathfinder.  But I plan to switch to Milliput with these.  I only knew about green stuff before this pretty much.

I'm torn between these and CMoN. Am I going to have to do pinning and whatnot with these, or can I press the model into the setting putty and have it stay that way?

You can use just putty and super glue, but pinning will help with durability. Putty alone won't work well. With premade bases, you're in a similar boat: pinning and superglue will give better results than super glue alone.

Btw, if you have an iPhone, the Hobby Lobby app has the weekly coupon in it. I expect that the app is also available for Android phones. You can also print the coupon from the Hobby Lobby website.

Think of all the money you'll save. Once the CMoN bases are used they are used. They look cool, they really do, I just prefer more bang and diversity for my buck. Come join us. You know you want to :-)
