I make the same statements everytime for non USD projects. I want in, but stupid bank and their conversions. Makes me sad.

I have a Capital One credit card, they do not charge me anything for conversions. I just pay whatever the exchange rate for that day is on foreign currency when the pledge is collected. Pretty nice thing to be able to back foreign kickstarters.

Curse you, Ub3r!  I'm trying not to pull my paltry $30 pledge from Happy Seppuku because they're so close to not getting funded.  But it would take the sting out of getting a Basius if I did...  Guess I'll be watching closely to see how things play out.

Sorry! Not trying to get people to jump ship, just giving my own reason for why I did it. If i had an unlimited budget, then I'd be helping all the KS I like hehe

Can I ask, between Basius, Happy Seppuku (just the $10 base stamp add-ons) or the CMoN Micro Art Studio base kickstarter, which one do you believe is the best option to base the tsunami of Bones minis we're about to get? I'm on a fairly limited budget so the most I could buy would be 2 molds from Basius, 4 sets from CMoN and about 8 base stamps from Seppuku.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each and I've never personally used or seen any of these products. That's why I'm asking here.

Basius, because you're getting a TON of empty new bases to use with it.

Edit: I swear I just typed out an entire page and it was deleted....doing it again.

BASIUS: Is about 7 inches long, and gives 6 inches on BOTH sides that offer many basing options. You are not limited to size and shape of your base with this system. If you wake up tomorrow and decide you want to do squares for the rest of your life then you can and the size of the stamp is large enough that you should be able to stamp nearly anything. The options, even if you can only buy 2, do not limit you. The Mr pointed out that the Sanctuary stamp could easily make streets/dungeon tiles/ruin tiles/cultural tile of some sort. There's even carpet textures on it so you can pass that off as an inn tile in that corner or a house. You are only limited by your imagination and how you PAINT it. The stamps are also made of resin so the details are crisper than that of happy seppuku tiles. The benefit of Basius over CMON is that if you stamp a part that just isn't working out for your miniature, then you can restamp it DIFFERENTLY, instead of being stuck with a base you currently cannot use because its shape isnt right.

Happy Seppuku: Are silicon and though they do nice details, they really aren't that crisp for my taste. THOUGH Wappel does AMAZING things with them. This is also something that you are limited only by your imagination and how you paint them, but there isn't any variety in their non-accent stamps. They measure roughly 3 inches by 5 inches so you also are not limited by base type, but you are limited by size. Though I guess if you're doing a base for something bigger than 3 inches, base wise then you may be doing a grander base than cobblestone or wood floors. ALSO, if you are only going after what they already have available, then you are better off with waiting until they have a christmas sale and buying the stamps then. You'll get them a lot sooner.

CMON: Cmon has a 'meh' reputation with fulfilment, just going to throw that out there. You are limited to styles that are circular so if you decide you want to go square then you'll have to stick that bad boy on top of a square one with a round top. You're limited to about 10 varying styles that may or may not work out for the mini you have in mind. IF there were more flatish options then I may have more things to say. But for the 83$ (Included shipping ish) you can get two basius stamps that gives you a lot more variety than 10 varying styles of circular cmon bases)

As bones 2 backers, we are getting 50 blank small bases, 25 blank medium bases and like 10? large blank bases. Basius is perfect for these.

I think I'm going to stay in the CMoN base KS as well, as I really like the concept and most of the designs.  They provide a lot more three-dimensional action, so I think they'd be great for character models in particular (versus "rank and file" figures).  But like MissMelons pointed out, the Bones II bases will make good use of the Basius option.

Maybe it's just a personal preference thing but I don't care for most of the sets currently unlocked because of the highly 3D aspect of the bases. I love the Mystic because it would be a cakewalk to base minis on but many of the others are so /\ /\ \/ . Maybe when a few more sets get unlocked it'll have more appeal.

Great points. The only thing that makes me cringe with Basius is the cost. At $76 for two pads plus (I'm guessing) $12 shipping that isn't any more than I'm pledging for CMoN already.

I have hundreds of different sized lipped and flat bases as well as various types of putty just sitting in the tackle box. Plus we'll be getting a ton of bases from Bones 2 and I even added extra bases.

Thank you MissMelons. That helps me out a lot. Basius may be pricey but it's high quality and I'll only have to make the bases I actually need. I prefer 1" & 2" for Pathfinder anyway. All of those iffy 40mm CMoN bases would rarely even see the light of day.
