I think it does make it easier that even though I don't know Dave personally, I have talked to him (among others on here) quite a lot and trust him and he trusts me to make sure I send out the stamps to him. Seems as though most of the people who've been on here the last 2 years that I've talked to and gotten to know are very nice, generous, and amazing which is a big reason for me going to RCon '15 this next year to meet up and hang out with my online friends.

Anyhow, I'd recommend it if you are friends with others on here to join forces or if you have personal friends near you who are hobbyists as well.

Well, that, and the fact that I can hold your KD minis hostage...

So ... I finally decided on my three pads (more is out of my financial means the coming months): Sanctuary, Victoriania and Plaguelands ... I think the only type of base I cannot do with that is forest ... (maybe mountain, but that's nothing I was after anyway). ... and treasure piles, but I also was not intending to base many minis on heaps of money ...

On the one hand, I can only really count on needing the forest mold.  On the other hand, it seems to me that forest plus imperial plus plaguelands would set one up for a lifetime of  making wargaming* bases pretty well.

*As opposed to doing display figures or RPG minis.

I disagree. I plan on using Imperial and Plaguelands specifically for RPG and display minis. The road area of Imperial will go towards makeshift dungeon floor, town streets, flat outdoor, cavalry, and wasteland style minis. The broken side will be great for most outdoor minis from animals to giants  to more cracked lava. Seems ideal for RPG minis.

Plaguelands will provide wood floors for taverns etc.., lava flows for demons and fire elementals, lots of area for undead, and swamps for hundreds of green skinned guys from goblins, trolls, ogres, and boggards to lizardmen, giant snakes and black dragons. It's an RPG juggernaut! Loads uf uses outside of wargaming.

I love the forest pad but don't have the cash for it.

See? The pages worth of comments going back and forth about which stamps folks are limiting themselves to choosing proves they are too expensive! ^_^

The greedy completionist in me wants them all, making the "one or two" option impossible. I'm just hardwired to not be able to plunk down $100 and walk away with only a couple of these.

Understandable. You have to think of how incredibly useful and double sided they are. Your right though they are pricey and double sided and useful. ;^) Honestly, the exchange rate is the only thing holding me back. There is reason I don't pledge Euro kickstarters. These are just too amazing to pass up and I will pledge again in Basius 3.

But, only you know what you can afford.

I'm not saying that those aren't useful for basing RPG and display figs, I was just imagining that RPG gamers might be more interested in some of the details in, say,  the Dungeon mold or Sanctuary instead of or in addition to the three I mentioned.

In trying to do figures for my PF/D&D group, it seems that they don't care about the base that much. I always try to get them to give me an idea of where their characters are from or where they like to hang out. Most of the time it's put off on me with something like, "do whatever you think looks cool..." So I usually base them on wood flooring for an inn, cobblestones, wilderness, or dungeon looking bases as they are adventuring and usually spend a lot of time in one or more of these places.

Oh! That makes sense. I see where you're coming from and you make a very good point. That said, I'm getting Imperial and Plaguelands pretty much exclusively for Pathfinder. Personally I think Imperial and Plaguelands are great pads for general RPG use. They both have areas that can be used for indoor and outdoor settings while Dungeon and Sanctuary are indoor only and Forest is outdoor only. The problem is they're all good choices.

*I wants them all*

Buying setting specific pads does give people a lot more options for their bases but it would take more pads to cover outside and inside settings. If I could add another it would be between Forest, Sanctuary and Dungeon. Those are all killer pads and I'd get them if I could.

I've decided

Plaguelands (the awesomnest of them all)

Dungeon

Sanctuary

Victoriana

Coralline- I approve of your basius plans.

Yay! \(^_^)/ Thanks rhombus. I'm so jealous of your Dungeon, Sanctuary & Victoriana pads.
