These do look kinda neat.

I can see preferring to use these over tokens in most boardgames, and I can understand how folks who normally do their RPGing without minis would be drawn to these.

But they're not minis and not for me.

Still, they are cool looking in a 2D kind of way.

These are nifty, and showcase well the difference between the flat graphic arts and sculpture.

While fully molded 3D minis are a lot of fun and can show a lot of angles, they also have structural limitations, as anyone who has tried to deal with a flying figure or one on many very thin legs has found.

Flat ones can show impossibly thin parts, tiny spider legs and feathery hair and top-heavy headdresses. They don't have to connect to all their parts and can float or fly. They are structurally a lot sturdier than more convoluted 3D figures.

We did have flat minis decades ago. In the 1980s you couldn't find superhero minis to save your life, never mind the variety that were needed for any kind of campaign. So while playing "Champions" we used little commercially printed cardboard chits printed with characters (and I drew custom ones with the tiniest Rapidograph available).

And I have had some thoughts about painting scenery on sheets of clear acrylic ...

I would love to see this done with spell wall effects and similar. Depending on how flexible the plastic is, making a flame wall 4" in length with one base on each end would be pretty cool. Set several together for multiple walls and bend them about for oddly shaped walls. I love having a physical representation of this kind of spell effect, but have little desire to paint them.

Cool stuff, but this KS is not for me.

You could make them yourself, I suppose, but that's a certain amount of work and specialized printing materials and besides, these have matching back-and-front art.

And I do like the art style.

These are pretty nice. If I didn't have a pile of minis I'd definitely back. It's a good idea for someone starting out, or a player who wants to maybe run their own game someday. Or for someone who needs to travel with them, storage would be easy. They do have a nice art style.
