Maredudd
Hi Folks! Will data cards be provided for the OEM versions of CAVs? Or is the open market going away all together?
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted September 29, 2014 Moderator Share Posted September 29, 2014 It is my understanding through past discussions with CAVBOSS that the OEM is going away.
Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted September 29, 2014 Reaper User Share Posted September 29, 2014 Yes and no. The open market will remain but it is a catch all area for models that can be used by all factions for one reason or another. Take the cruise missile launchers...they wont be made for every faction but will be made "open" so that anyone can add a cruise missile option to their force. Other specialty model types will follow that same path. The Hedgehog APC will be an open model and a few others as we go along.
Maredudd
Oh wait . . . Just noticed in the Rules Preview that some CAV will be listed with an "Open" affiliation. That helps somewhat answer my question. The next question is if OEM is going away does that mean that CAVs can only be use in their intended Faction? (This might be a better question over in the Rules Forum)

Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted September 29, 2014 Reaper User Share Posted September 29, 2014 For official play and tournaments, faction based models will be limited to their faction. You can use whatever you wish in your own games.

Girot
I've put together a list of "Black Market" units comprised of anything that has been "officially" retired but still usable through the Construction Rules. Oh, and variants of legal models. Obviously none of it will be authorized for tournament play but it will save everybody the trouble of having to create the data cards on their own.
