should not effect either the Bones or the Robotech Kickstarters, but knowing the depths of the Suez, I wanna go scuba diving right about now.

I think LK might be the Reaper fan closest to the scene right now.

Someone send the diving bell!

All due respect to the Space Kraken...

The funny, to me, thing is, that the Suez is only run in convoys, so dicking around to get ahead isn't going to accomplish much anyway. You are still only going to be allowed through at certain times for the direction you are travelling.

Having been through 'the ditch' on several occasions, I can attest to this.

Someone needs to tell the captain that is a ship not a bumper car.

In a confined and very controlled waterway like the Suez canal the Captains typically surrender control to local pilots. Usually this is required.

I hope this was just two Captains trying to reach the pilot boat first. (Perhaps, In order to get the last slot in the next South bound convoy.) But if both ships were already under command of pilots...

What if a pilot was blackmailed? ( ...cause a collision; shut down the canal, or bad things happen to family; heads roll... ) Who would benefit from that? Let's say ... If US Navy warships were delayed getting where they need to go? Who is violent enough for something like that?

Very good points.

There's a blog (Salty Dog or something) that had the vid of the map tracking. This was at the merger of a canal coming from a loading dock, which was the smaller ship. From his post, it sounded as if the larger ship was adjusting course to get into the proper convoy position and it's rudder stuck. So it may have been trying to stop but couldn't.

Or maybe he's off and the two pilots were drag racing.

But this has evolved into licorice space kookaburras. I think. It's too early so my brain hasn't fully engaged in what the actual current off topic is.

EDIT: Found the blog. Decided to not be lazy. But I've no idea where I read that rudder thing.

So do you think it is more likely to be substance abuse that lead to this? Edited by Thes Hunter
