So....

Despite the fact that there have been a few combat sports games out recently, I really like the look of the figures in this.

The sculpts (well, renders, mostly) do look fairly interesting. Unfortunately, the size comparison suggests the teams wouldn't mix will with other combat sports games, which imo is a drawback. I'd be more inclined to buy yet another game if "crossover" matches wouldn't result in style mismatches.

Also, I'm a bit concern about the material. The Myth boardgame plastics seem to be among the more controversial figures out there in terms of quality, so saying these will use the same material as Myth isn't really all that helpful.

Will have to follow it and see if anything more informative gets posted.

Could you help me find the Myth plastic controversy? Of all the complaints I've seen arise about Myth, the minis hasn't been one of them.

I remember finding comments ranging anywhere from these being better than Bones (coming from someone who really likes Bones) to their being hell to clean up and rectify (think the worst you've heared about Sedition Wars wave 2... with the added "benefit" that ill-fitting parts are already glued together with a very strong glue).

It's been a few weeks, so don't have the links anymore, but iirc the most extreme comments either way both came up on BGG.

Odd, I'd rank the Myth miniatures as pretty solid. I have (a lot of) bones and myth minis, and I'd probably give the edge to Myth for detail in the plastic, if not overwhelmingly. Overall, I'm happy with the minis. If this game can match that quality at a good price-point, I'd count that to their favor. To be fair though, I'm a board gamer and tabletop RPG player, so I don't tend towards the extreme detail found in TT skirmish games.

Yes, I think it may well be a case of glass half-empty/glass half-full.

If I got miniatures that are, say, Sedition Wars (wave 1, to be sure) level production quality and preassembled as well as that would allow,

... i'd say they're pretty nice boardgame pieces. (They look pretty good and are no hassle.)

... I'd not think much of them as miniatures. (It is a bit much flash, really, which is definitely too hard to clean due to the preassembly, which surely has issues because some parts can't fit right if flash wasn't cleaned.)

Personally, I might've been cool with Myth (it's too much a boardgame that I can see myself wanting to paint them up), but for fantasy/sci-fi football, I'm more in the latter camp (because I would want to field the figs against other teams in, most likely, other games).

Which has us back on topic: I'm reluctant to buy into this because they say Myth plastic (and because of the scale shots), despite liking the sculpts/renders.
