Zombie diorama Wedding Cake Toppers

Recommended Posts

It's been a little while since I posted up some of the zombie wedding cake toppers I make.  So here are a couple more- they're more or less standard, except that the first one has the zombies designed to be interacting with the bride and groom a little more than we normally make them (usually, they're separate and climbing/shambling on the cake, while here they're definitely being attacked by the bride and groom).

Anyway, here are some sets I've made lately:

You know, I have to wonder where these weddings are.

I've shipped them lots of places.  Mostly to English speaking countries (US, Canada, UK and Australia) but not exclusively (sent some to Italy, France, Spain and the like- mostly western Europe- but again, not exclusively).

I've probably sent one to every US and Canadian state by now.  I should have been keeping track with a map.

You definitely seem to be the go-to person for zombie fighter wedding cake toppers.

Yeah, I think that google has me down as that.

I've done some really out there ones too- sometimes people send me pictures of their role-playing characters (either tabletop or vidoegame) to match.  That's been pretty groovy too.

But zombies are still #1.

Tre Manor is still working to fulfill his Warbands of the Dark Beyond across the pond, but I painted up the zombies to be a higher grade of zombie for my dnd game. I got the chaos bases at ReaperCon and wanted them to look like they were fueled with necrotic energy further powering the zombies!!

Between moving and starting a new job this spring, there has not been a lot of time for painting.  Plus there was the time taken to inventory Bones IV.  I want to try and establish a more regular painting routine, and I thought I would start with some figures that I could do quickly.  Several years ago, I purchased some Axis Zombies for the Dust Tactics game.  I had no interest in playing the game, but I liked several figures from the range.  Last night I did some quick mold line removal (not too worried if I missed some) and gave them a quick coat of primer. I am hoping to get started on them this evening.

Luke and Elise thought they could escape the zombie apocalypse by heading to the countryside. Oh dear.
These minis don't have names, so I christened one as Luke because his open white shirt and blond hair remind me of Luke Skywalker on some of the original Star Wars posters and Elise got her name because the Cure's "Letter to Elise" was playing as I was finishing her paint job.

My girlfriend took one look at these and said, "If you put them opposite each other it looks like they're in a dance-off".

      And she's right.

Just a pair of rotty zombos I painted up in late 2014 or early 2015. I like them because of the period inspecificity: they work equally well as peasant fantasy zombies or pulp-era modern zombies.

The crouching one (Reggie?) looks particularly famished for braaaaaaaaaaiiiiiins.

These guys have quite a bit of personality in their sculpts and I tried to bring that out while experimenting with different flesh tones.

First up is Bob. He was once a predatory used car salesman of the "buy here, pay here" variety until a nip from a disgruntled customer caused him to go feral.

Next is Betty, who was spending a lazy day hanging laundry on the line when a hungry neighbor unexpectedly launched himself over the fence and gnawed on her a bit.

Next is Slabby, possibly patient zero, who has escaped from his drawer in the local morgue to cause a bit of mayhem.

Next is Moose, who was a member in good standing of the Tunnel Snakes until he forgot to lock the door to his shelter before passing out in a drunken stupor.

And finally there is Steve, who is in the unenviable position of having to wear his work uniform throughout an eternity of undeath.
