Matbar
Uhm. I shouldn't need that big a box. Perhaps I am doing this wrong. It also depends on what you pay for what you get. If you only spend $3 on a $29 dragon, then that's only $3 towards the cap. Hopefully you also told someone or bought out the rest. For me the scavenger hunt aspect adds to the fun. Resin and bonesium vs metal can also make a huge difference in bulk. What matters is that you wanted to give it to them, not the cost or size. If the latter was the case, I would be filling a box with battle tech and SFB minis and packing them out. But I don't thing my SS would be very happy... What he said. I sales shop constantly both online and at my LGS, sometimes picking up double if it's a super good deal. I have gotten some family members and kids into this, plus this is my 3rd Secret Sophie. Don't sweat it, really. I've gotten a single mini, and a package full of stuff, and liked both. To me the fun is in trying to find something my repient will really like, and getting something that is a surprise.
catdancer
All is well!!! I received my Secret Sophie package in the afternoon mail today...placed it under the Christmas tree for opening on Christmas eve (as is the tradition in our house)! Feel like a little kid filled with anticipation and awaiting Christmas eve with two Secret Sophie packages to open!!! I sent (PM) confirmation to my Secret Sophie sender. As I have said in past postings...this is really fun...I love it! I am just sorry that we only have this surprise gift sending event only once per year. catdancer
2nd package awaaaaaaaaaaayyy! Yes...two! But one is not an official Secret Sophie (program) package. There is another member (who also lives in Las Vegas) and we exchange " surprise " Christmas packages (as if it was part of the Secret Sophie (program). ub3r_n3rd
Maybe we can do a midsummer secret Sophie exchange like this one since everyone seems to love this kind of exchange. I'll talk to Fan about it.

fanguad
What is it about Secret Sophie that you guys are excited about? New pewter? Random gifts? I definitely plan to continue organizing miniature exchanges, but you seem to be requesting something more. dsmiles
I dunno, between this and the Box'o'Goodwill, my "Random Gifts" fix is pretty much covered. I'm good with just the seasonal exchanges, as long as the boxes continue to circulate.

Hi dsmiles; Since I do not follow (or understand) the varied threads as closely as most of the older members...I am not at all familiar with your reference to something called " Box'o'Goodwill "...I just enjoy the giving and receiving (the random exchange) of " surprises " between members of this great web site...and feel that there is nothing wrong and/or extreme with such random exchange programs during the year...and not just at Christmas. That is why I made the humorous comment/reply to the posting by ub3r in regard to a midsummer exchange. My apology to you for my comment...since I see that by your statement...you are good with only the single seasonal (Christmas) exchange. Moderator OneBoot Posted December 16, 2014 Moderator Share Posted December 16, 2014 What is it about Secret Sophie that you guys are excited about? New pewter? Random gifts? I definitely plan to continue organizing miniature exchanges, but you seem to be requesting something more. My guess is that it's due to the focus of Secret Sophie being on "sending random fun stuff, which may or may not be painted!" as opposed to the other "painted only" exchanges. I can see how opting for a non-painted exchange would be less stressful for some. :) ...Which reminds me, I still need to go paint things! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

The Travels of Sir ForScale thread has all the info about the Box'o'Goodwill that I was talking about. In short: it's a box that follows a (pretty random) route across the country. People put in stuff, and take out stuff. Like a continuously-circulating Secret Sohpie box for everybody that signs up. Some of the routes are nearing completion (mine only has two or three members left before the box makes it back to me, for instance). Then, we'll start a new thread, get more names, and ship the boxes out again for another trip around the world. EDIT: It's great fun, you should sign up for the next run.
