With all this talk in the Painting Tips & Advice Thread of NMM vs TMM I decided to throw my caution to the wind and give my Learn to Paint Kit #5: NMM a go. While I finish the final touches on my bones barkeep and finish painting my bones blacksmith I'm going to start my prep work on my LTPK figures. They need to be cleaned up and primed. I need to read over the instructions a few times as well. So here is a shot of the figures. I'm going to be painting.

Should be a challenge I hope to be up for.

Edit: for title correction

LTPK 3 btw :)

Really looking forward to this. I feel kit 4 was where I painted my first decent mini, kit 3 (nmm) is where I really began painting decently on a fairly regular basis and understand what the heck I was doing at least half the time.

Lol, I realized that yesterday, and mid post my internet cut out.

Thanks, CS. It was a lot of work, but Anne's recipes helped out a ton. It also taught me how to blend better, using more intermediate steps.

I've noticed from the instruction there is a lot of color mixing.

I need to sit down and work through all of LTPK's with focus on LTPK 3.

I feel they've helped me a lot. This is the last one of the original I have to go through.  Glad I got them when I did.  As they've seemed to go out of production.

Beginning my work on this kit.  This kit has a lot of paint mixing it.   I will endeavor to follow the instructions to the best of my ability.  I will start with Anduriel.  Tyden has a bit more flash to clean up and is taking a bit longer than I thought it would.

Color's included

9070: Mahogany Brown

9035: Olive Green

9057: Ashen Blue

9199: Russet Brown

9037: Pure Black

9039: Pure White

9038: Rainy Grey

9074: Palomino Gold

9110: Oiled Leather

Note: No flesh color. The base flesh color is a mix of Palomino : Mahogany : White (4:1:1).  So I painted up the eyes and base coated the flesh tonight.  Here is a quick cell phone shot of the results.

Not sure what to do with those bodies in webs on the slot. Need to go back and look at the pics to see if I should cut them or see if I have a spare slotta base to stand them up.

Most of these aren't up to date and I've changed bits of them here and there since these, I'll be saving those shots for the finished product, but hopefully you enjoy the journey.

I saw the Rocky miniatures, and with how cute they are I could not resist getting one to use as a dragon to send against my players. As such, here is my take on the Flying Rocky, as a juvenile Red Dragon!
