Juliette the Wizard & Deckard the Deathpriest

Recommended Posts

Great work with the limited palette choice.  I like the de-saturated look to the minis.  I especially like the way you picked out all of the pouches, belts and "stuff."  Sounds trivial but a lot of times I think they are overlooked.

Thank you sir!

Awesome paint-job. I love how worn/used the clothes of the deathpriest look, whereas the same color palette on the wizard looks "neat". Nice bases, too.

Thanks, every base has MonkeySloth chiming in my ears...

Wow, your Juliette is really, really great. I would buy that mini on the spot! Also, love the colors!

I appreciate that, thank you!

While the outstretched hands give them a point of commonality, they are otherwise opposites other than sharing some OUTSTANDING craftsmanship. The selection of colors & brushwork are WONDERFUL; the bases fit the nature of the minis perfectly. VERY WELL DONE!

I recently put some paint on the Bones version of Juliette. But mine didn't have a hat  ??...esplain more about the hat please?

I really dig the limited palette. Deckard is one of my fave Reaper minis.

Thanks!! My goal is to achieve Proctor and DKS level painting quality. They're my unofficial mentors.

I'm glad you like them. Reaper sells a hats pack which I find wonderful. This hat is included in that selection and her dynamic pose just screamed, "put this hat on me!". I heavily considered doing her on the deck of a ship and making her look all pirate-like which would have also been perfect for her. Just search the Reaper store for hats.

I'm glad you noticed the outstretched hand theme.

Wow, that's probably my favorite version of Deckard I've seen. Great job. I love that mini, but couldn't ever figure out a paint scheme to get started on mine. Consider yours bookmarked for future reference.

Stunning. Juliette almost looks like a different mini.

Thank you!

Very nice! It's cool that both have similar pallettes but evoke entirely different moods.

Ironically, I was gunning for just that. The only foundational difference between the two was that Deckard started with a wash of Violet Light and Juliette started with a wash of Redstone.

Outstanding!

I appreciate it.  ^_^

Finished this figure over the weekend. Some parts I like quite a lot, but the blending is a bit weak and the casting of the left side of the face is poor. I like the sculpt a lot, and I've put the metal version (03547) into my wishlist for my next order. I think it might make a very nice piece to spend more time on.

About a year ago is when I picked up a brush again after decades and it was because I started playing D&D again.  Unable to quickly find proper representations of our characters, I settled on some Dark Sword Anthropomorphics for the time being.  As our characters have developed over the year, I was able to get a better sense of them and finally able to find minis to truly represent who they were.

Our Wood Elf Swashbuckler (02543 - Elladan, Elf)

Our Half-Elf Warlock (03381 - Satheras, Elf Warlock)

Our Dragonborn Cleric of Talos (03389 - Deckard Nightveil, Bone Pander Death Priest.  Converted)

Our Goliath Warrior (03724 Thund Bloodwrack, Barbarian. Converted)

I've decided it's time for a show off thread for these minis.
      WIP is at http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/73535-lexomatics-spring-2017-pcs/
I'll post pics in a bit after I've cropped them.
      Juliette first

I decided to start painting up minis for my various PCs

-An unidentified Grenadier Halfling fighter (chain & shield) as Lvl 7 Rogue, Magnus Perrywhimple (soon to be con only)
-Mystic Theurge as Lvl 1 Monk/ Lvl 1 Rogue Stede Blackthumb (Acolyte of Candlekeep),  on an acquisition mission to atone for learning and copying ritual magic without permission
-Juliette, as Lvl 1 Half Drow Sorceress, Grz'zilda (the Ghastly Gourmet) who was rescued from Hillsfar and while hiding her heritage is now adventuring.
I've done a few passes at a few things. But not full base coats yet. Photos later.

I really liked the posture on this mini.  I imagined her standing in a recently-scorched landscape, unharmed, waiting for her turn at initiative to come up to retaliate.  :-)
