December 2014 Painting / Hobby goals!

1) Colossal Giant - Complete still getting there, slowly

2) Kagunk Complete still getting there, slowly

3) SOS: Red haired female fighter still getting there, slowly

4) Paint the Casino, Nope!

5) More sculpting on the black pudding, Nope

6) Prep / model and base 35 points of trollbloods for Journeyman League in January at my club Yes! well done, I will be able to play starting in January with my new army :)

7) Start painting the rest of my RBG barbarians, nope

 

I am finding that December is actually very busy and there are far too many distractions! 

 

Early 2015 to the end of the summer is going to be just as distracting!

Halfway home now, and it's been a surprisingly productive month.  Original goals went out the window real quick, as I got bit by the kitbash bug...hard.  Even managed to get semi-proficient in very basic [aka little to no detail] sculpting:

• Kitbash 1 (CAV): Assembled in the fall.  Primer touched up after being sent flying by 4-year-old sister over Thanksgiving.
• Kitbash 2 (CAV): Assembled in the fall. Primer touched up after being sent flying by 4-year-old sister over Thanksgiving.
• Kitbash 3 (Warlord): Tail added to November's 'glued myself to it...again...and the hand still fell off; how do I fit a pin into this?' figure to make a tiefling.  Needs mold lines cleaned before priming.
• Kitbash 4: (CAV): Cleaned, new gun mount sculpted, pin added to gun mount, pin added to thumb, pin removed from thumb, blood removed from thumb, blood added to gun mount, blood removed from gun mount, gun added to pin and mount.  Ready for primer.
• Kitbash 5: (CAV): Substitution parts test-fit and decided on, laid out in an 'exploded' view.  Ready for assembly.
• Kitbash 6: (CAV): Initial substitution parts broken [snapped the missile pack off trying to take it off the sprue], dig through pile of spare parts looking for something that looks good.  New inspiration found, test fit, arm stud filed down to fit hole in torso.  Torso cleaned and arms connected.  Missile pack nipped for a cleaner look, will need minor putty work and a pin before it can be fixed in place.

Sculpted:  SUPER Simple Shields and Shield emblems, no mold setup (yet),

Started:  Sculpting a second Chaos Dwarf Wizard (battle version)

Started:  Sculpting a third Chaos Dwarf...  "Ballistics Expert" Scrapped sculpt (out of scale)

Started:  Hobgoblin...  interesting so far. Still in scale, wielding a mace.  About 40% done.

I'm on the hook for two "how to" videos for a couple of CAV. Really hoping I have time for both.

Mixup on the delivery of the Ace level, plus getting double booked at work multiplied by end of year school activities equal zero time to paint. Looks like I'll have some weekend time before everything gets shelved for Christmas. Still hoping for time. That's what I've been asking for Christmas, too. Not sure the family is getting the hint.

 

Didn't make it to the videos, but paint a seven piece set of Christmas terrain I found at the dollar store. Not really the same thing but it was at least brush time.

December is a tricky month.  On one hand I do have some time off, but on the other there's certain to be some holiday stuff that will cut into the mini painting time. 

 

• Try out some sheer cloth.
• Give glow effects another go.
• Maybe start on learning OSL techniques.
• Finish off the "Dungeon Attack" portion of box so it's not still there when Bones II shows up.
• Paint a miniature from a company that I have not yet painted a mini from.

I have been doing ALOT of game prep.

 

Savage Worlds The Last Parsec is drawing a lot of my attention! I wish Reaper were doing a line of miniatures for this!
