I wish I could go.

Anyone want to pitch in for a Kickstarter to send me to ReaperCon. I will use the money to attend, purchase a GoPro and wear it to showcase shenanigans...but for backers' eyes only.

You could do it as a ReaperCon documentary.  Probably couldn't film in classes though.

I could interview people after classes though. Not about the nitty-gritty details, but instead about overall tone and feelings. This done right could help showcase what I get the sense ReaperCon is like from posts around here.

I can't answer the current question on a public forum.

Pay no attention to Cash's large collection of masterwork paintings that used to be in museums with inadequate security measures. They are just reference images for his miniatures.

I don't have an awesome story like Doc. My proudest thing is more a period of time, rather than a single accomplishment.

There was a period in my life when I was dealing with some health issues (details omitted on a public forum.). The chief (relevant) feature of these issues was that they consumed a significant amount of time on a daily basis.

Being a bit naive, and very stubborn on the subject, I managed to re-arrange my schedule so that I could still hold down a full time job and keep up with the heaviest business travel schedule I've ever had, with most of my coworkers, and even many of my friends none the wiser. It was pretty grueling. I'm pretty sure the medical staff who saw me thought I was wacko.

In retrospect, I'm not sure if I would have committed to it, if I had known what was involved, but I'm glad I did.

This went on for about a year and a half before things changed for the (dramatically) better. For the first six month after that, I felt like I had all the time in the world to do whatever I wanted.

Question 27: What personal accomplishment of yours are you most proud of (kids don't count)?

Hmmm I'm awkward. I find pleasure in tiny, stupid every day feats that most people would consider is incredibly weird. I don't mean with just painting. I've got a 'mimics' ear that's awesome and a curse. I'm always the go to person to fix just about anything and everything. Sometimes its nice playing dumb and letting someone else take over or figure things out for once. Terrible yes.

But what am I proud of, a personal achievement. Getting Bronze at Reaper con. I didn't even expect a metal, just merits since it was my first time and I was still very new to painting. Fingers crossed for equivalent or Silver next year!

Question 28: What do you like in music?

Metal, metal, and moar metal! Especially on the "extreme" ends of things in general. Huge fan of Black Metal specifically, especially the Finnish BM scene... \m/

Some favorites include:  Sargeist, Behexen, (classic) Satyricon, Ensifernum, Slayer, Behemoth, Morbid Angel

Damon.

Um, music is all over the place. I don't listen to much rap, classical or country. And I'm not a big fan of most of the heavier genres of metal since you can never understand what the hell they're singing. But other than that, my musical tastes are so ecclectic as to be almost random.

Mine is pretty simple.  Good.  I like Good music.  I will listen to nearly anything.  I tend to be pretty far outside of what is popular because my own interests slant towards traditional and folk music but taht doesn't mean I don't enjoy a dazzling variety of music.

I have very eclectic music tastes:

Listening (in no particular order, and this is just a sampling):

  • Simon and Garfunkel/Paul Simon
  • Gordon Lightfoot
  • Jim Croce
  • Pink Floyd
  • Billy Joel
  • KT Tunstall
  • Queen
  • Pentatonix
  • Jonathan Coulton
  • Weird Al
  • Gaelic Storm
  • Adele
  • Gregorian Chant (when I am stressed)
  • Phil Collins/Genesis
  • Michael Kelsey
  • U2
  • Chris Rice
  • Rich Mullins
  • Barenaked Ladies
  • Steven Curtis Chapman
  • Various 70's-80's music, a here and there mix of artists and songs

For singing, I typically like hymns, carols, and anything that works well with my bass to mid tenor range.

For playing, I prefer folk, celtic, carols, and hymns music on my recorder and play my native flutes in the Native American "from the heart" style where I invent the music I play as I play based on my mood at the time.

Just about anything that's well done and doesn't spread hatred.

That said, alternative Jazz, country, and rap are unfavorites.  I listen to a lot of electronic, goth, metal, classic rock, and http://christianindustrial.net and most of what I like is at least a decade out of "current".

I forgot about singing and playing.  I play and sing Irish traditional almost exculsive to everything else.  I used to be in a band and never dropped the habit.

What sort of flute do you play?  transverse?
