Dontfear
I have still never seen Babylon 5. I need to rectify this. Netflix needs to put it on instant view. Oh, and as for BSG...I don't understand how anyone watched the pilot for the newer series and thought, "yeah, this should be worthwhile." I haven't watched the series, because I've twice tried to watch the pilot, and it's just terrible. I do like old BSG. ...yeah, I know. I won't watch the new BSG, and I think The Phantom Menace isn't awful. I'm weird. I'm curious, what is it that you don't like about the pilot? the pacing is pretty glacial but the pay off is pretty darn good.

Flamehawke
AH. Thank you. One of the shows that could never quite capture my interest despite multiple friends trying to get me into it.
Lars Porsenna
Loved the BSG pilot, had a great deal more gravitas than the original series' handling of the destruction of the colonies. Damon.
CashWiley
Actually my third favorite sci fi (after Star Wars and Firefly) would be the Stargate franchise (though they blew it with Universe, which should've been awesome but wasn't even close). But SG:1 and Atlantis were great! How can you not love Teal'c? I think if I were a sci-fi character, I'd want to be Teal'c. Or R2D2.
falstius
I've watched every episode of Stargate ... many of them more than once. But I swear my wife has watched every episode 10 times. She prefers Atlantis. I honestly think Firefly is better, but there is a certain base appeal to monster* of the week stuff like Stargate. * monster = actual monster, or computer bug, or black hole, or whatever. I've tried to watch the pilot twice, couldn't finish it either time. The acting isn't good enough to carry me through the pacing, and neither time did I notice any seeds of impending payoff (at least, not a payoff I care about, given I haven't felt a connection to the characters involved; certainly I could see something coming to a head). I want to say I've made it a bit past the halfway mark each time. It's been long enough that I can't recall specifics at this point, so this is a relatively supportless opinion now. Thank you Cash for mentioning Stargate! I really enjoyed SG-1.
CorallineAlgae
Star Trek for me but that hurts to say. Star Wars is my favorite movie franchise by far but episode I poisoned the meal. Stargate Atlantis is right behind it.

I liked SG1 as well, Macgyver was a good choice for that show, better than Kurt Russell thats for sure.

I still have it, it has TWO SIDES and has to be taken out and flipped over midway through.

Dontfear
Question 26: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would be able to occasionally shut off that voice in my head that constantly says "not good enough." I can never stay satisfied long and while it drives me to always improve it means I am rarely happy.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted December 3, 2014 Author Moderator Share Posted December 3, 2014 Presonally, I'd ditch my 30 year addiction to this crap: I quit several times a year, but somehow always manage to find one in my hand again, usually in times of stress.

As much as I hate him, I know he is the reason I succeed in so many areas of my life. But it is the cause of a lot of my stress.
