Iron Wind Metals K'tara Amazon Fighter Mage

So usually a figure takes me around two weeks to paint, but this being a relatively simple figure, plus the fact that I had the day after Thanksgiving off and was home alone (my beautiful little wife was working), I got to spent the last couple days finishing this figure up, just getting the actual base done about half an hour ago.

 

I like this figure as it's one of the few fantasy figures that Iron Wind has done after its Ral Partha days.

 

One thing that I am concerned about and maybe somebody has an idea, is that this is the second miniature I put matte finish on (using Vallejo), where after putting it on, some of it actually dried white in the grooves of the figures (between the boots for example).  I found (hopefully) all those spots and added either a black or walnut brown wash to those spots, but it's kind of a pain.  Does anybody know what this might be caused by? I'm using probably a ratio of three parts water to one part finish.

 

Anyways, hopefully you enjoy the figure. I did two front shots, as the one shows the eye a bit better.

This is incredable moon, the NMMon the sword and the wood grain are excellent. Your blending on the skin and cloth is very very smooth. Did you wet blend or glaze? I hope I can reach this level you did a fantastic job and I am very impressed ;).

To your question, humidity or Maude a bad can. If it's user error which I doubt as you, I am sure have being spray sealing a lot I would say spraying too close or coats are too thick instead of multiple thin coats of spray. Scratch that reply it was brush on, no idea mate;(

It's been my experience that the Vallejo matte medium doesn't really like too much water.  If you add much water to their matte washes you will get the same white residue where it pools.

Incredible! The skin is gorgeous. The sword, staff, and purple cloth are all top notch.

Thanks Limey72! I don't think I wet blend. They are more like a progressive series of darker washes and then some highlights where, even though sometimes you can't tell, I almost always end in a white

Up until now, I've always used Vallejo matte, heavily mixed with water ( I usually do at least two or three coats) and have never had this problem before. I wonder if I didn't maybe just get a bad batch? Humidity isn't an issue right now..

There's not too many post-Partha fantasy figures that Iron Wind makes. I do really like this one though. It's bigger than the old classics, but not as large as the two elves I did last. And it's a pretty simple figure, not too many extra dingly danglies on her.

Yeah, he did. Maybe he should submit her pic to them and they can use it in their store, it's certainly gotten my attention and I'll be buying her soon.
