03205 Friar Stone Traveling Monk and a random Badger

Recommended Posts

Solid paint jobs!

Not sure if you're up for much C&C... I love the colors you used on the monk and I think the badger looks very natural/realistic. The only thing that stands out as me as 'stark' per se would be the transition from the highlights of his muscles and hands/fingers to the shadows makes him look a little gaunt/skeletal.

Nicely painted! I have one of those Friar Stones sitting on my painting table.  He's so much bigger than a lot of 28mm humans, though, that I'm not quite sure what I'll end up doing with him.  Yours might be the kick in the pants I need to start working!

This is one of my favorite sculpts! I love your color choices, too. I do think the blue satchel is a bit bright; my eye keeps leaving his face to see what the commotion is down by his hip; however, the blends look great and overall I think you did some great justice to this cool sculpt.

I have one in my queue now...one of my D&D group is going to use him as a PC...I'm excited to finally paint him myself.

Badger also looks nice. Those little animals are often difficult for me, because they're so small, but you did some good work on him.

Well, the construct has a rather large base, so I added a monk, so this is really a 2 for 1 offer.

The monk and the construct are both leftovers from other projects. When I saw them on my shelf of "to do", I suddenly got the feeling that they belonged together, don't really know why. There was just this connection between them.

So I made them meet on this base. Are they greeting each other? Banishing each other? Is this a planned meeting or does it happen by chance? Friends, rivals or enemies? All that really is for you to decide, I see something different in them every time.

I tried to bring them together by using the same colours on both of them. The writing in the scroll and the wooden cross of the monk use the same paint (vallejo wookgrain), the goggles of the construct have the same colour scheme as the cross the monk has around his neck...

Also, this is the first horse I painted. Was really fun, actually!

      C&c very welcome!

      And here's more:

      Enjoy!

Hello everyone, here are pictures of a model that had been waiting 34 years before being painted, Ral Partha 02-333 Acrobatic Thief sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
"Thanks to @Thoramel, for providing me with the model info.

      Hi folks!

Today I started painting #03836 "Jakob Janssen, Monk" for our friend Jakob. Sending him some good vibes during this time and excited to finish this and ship it his way! I started with skintones and I'm currently working on painting him with a big ol' George Clooney smile

I want to finalize my color scheme but I'm really struggling! Many great painters have already posted photos of their version of this mini and I want to do something different than what's already been done. Here are the three I'm considering:

The traditional Shaolin monk color scheme Iron Fist (Marvel) color scheme? (green & yellow) Halfling Monk (Pathfinder) color scheme? (green, red/orange, yellow with freehand insanity) Others??
HALP! The more options I research, the less decisive I get. Going to check back in tonight to see what folks think since I'll need to decide before my livestream tomorrow morning. At the end of the day, no matter what color scheme I choose, I'll do my absolute best to make sure it's something that will hopefully bring @JakobJanssen some creative joy   I'll check back in soon. Thanks in advance for your thoughts & suggestions!!
