Bonwirn
I think I have figured out how I am going to organize the paints. I have the Back 2 Baseix "The Rack" system, so that is going to stay. The paints will be organized by number. That is the only real way to find a paint that I want/have used and need a touch up... So, now the question becomes how do you find THE color you want? The solution was rather easy, once I chatted with Wren and a few others (who paint, just not minis)... I took the color chart done with the MSP colors, and sorta redid it in black and white! Well, I created the squares with the color name and number with a spot to put a drop and a smear of color. I printed the chart out on heavy cardstock and will store them in the protective sheet sleeves. As I am painting, I will put a drop of unthinned paint on the lower left of the box, and a thinned brush stroke (smear) of paint on the lower right of the box. Then, as I am painting, or working out colors for a new mini, I can reference the "color chart" with actual colors on it... ETA: Oh, and as for portability... well, I will use one of the Reaper paint cases that holds 36 paints... and stock it with duplicate 'basic' colors, leaving about 10 slots open for the, "I'm working with THAT color on the mini I am taking with me!". jonishi
Since I almost exclusively paint at home, I have a paint station that holds paints, brushes and such. It happens to have exactly two spots for the two jars of non-dropper bottle paints I have! Paints are sorted roughly by color, with metallics, inks and additives separated. I have a dedicated hobby table but too many hobbies for it to hold, so it's very nice to be able to pick the whole thing up, in-progress mini and all, and shove it in a cupboard when I suddenly feel more like sewing or furniture-making.
Moderator OneBoot Posted February 6, 2015 Moderator Share Posted February 6, 2015 the new large paint rack is from iron heart artisans. It's pretty darn nice for $20 and hold 60 MSPs. Aha!!! That's just what I have been looking for!! :D A stepped rack with good space between the tiers, low front lips, and a small depth footprint. Also, quite affordable! YAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING ABOUT THIS! I've been looking at spice racks, nail polish racks, paint racks, toolboxes, desk organizers, all kinds of things, but nothing quiiiiite fit. This is perfect! :) Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Bionicspacejelly
Like this: I arrange them according to the Product Code on the racks. its easier for me to replace them that way I find. Desk racks and boxes drive me up a wall. Having everything at eye level while I'm working helps my productivity.
Darkmeer
I keep mine in a drawer (less attention from the 3 year old that way). Left side is odd tones and flesh tones (army painter greenskins and hydra turquoise go with flesh tones, in my twisted mind). Center is colors, closest to outside is blue, then red-orange-yellow, then green, then earth tones. Purples and grays divide this portion on the left from the flesh tones. Right side is metallics and army painter ink washes. Eventually, I'll be getting reaper paints... and I will have need of a bigger drawer. I think I have about 75-80 paints now.
lexomatic
I have a large plastic Reaper box that I use as my overall paint storage and av small plastic arts box from the dollar store for everything I'm using on current projects. The exceptions are inks wich have their own box and mediums/ large bottle paints which have their own container. Basing supplies have their own box ( leftover shoe box) and my to paint list also fits in a few boxes. These all go on a glass/ metal ikea shelving unit in my dining room.
Harrek
I just use Plano 23730-05 plastic cases for storage and organizing. They work great, are nice and sturdy, and are not expensive. I just get them off Amazon.

I also like that they are just a little taller and fit in some other manufacturer dropper bottles better as they are a little taller than the Reaper ones. I also like that the Amazon reviews actually refer to them working great for Reaper dropper bottles!
Last Knight
Well, I've filled my two and I still have all of my P3s (in dropper bottles), MSP HDs, and Army Painter Warpaints chilling out. Maybe I'll pick up some Planos to supplement, especially since I have Kickstarter HDs coming... ZOMG SOON
