Didn't see any post about this:

Going to see it NOW at the 7:50 showing here in Birmingham! Will life be the same after tonight? I think not!

the book is 50+ years old, if you haven't read it by now bah, spoilers away.

There is a battle

there are 5 armies in the battle

Bilbo is there

he makes it back home (this could be inferred from him being in the shire at the start of The Fellowship of the Ring)

Edited to capitalize the proper name.

It's also, what, the last chapter in the book? It's almost all denouement.

Smaug gets kilt and the five armies squabble over who gets the loot. Bilbo makes peace but Thorin is mad at him. A distressing number of the thirteen dwarves die in battle. Bilbo goes back home wealthy beyond avarice. The end.

Anything else is padding, wadding, extraneous fake character inserts, Hollywoodisms and lies.

Gosh darn you, Peter Jackson!

Yeah, I'm going to go see it to complete the cycle, but im not happy about it.

I could spend pages ranting about it, but I'll spare you all the grief. And I really liked his handling of LotR. Go figure...

I sort of enjoyed it. It's nice to see the Elves and Dwarves in action, and I quite like that the men from the North, in contrast to the Gondorians, looked ragged and ramshackled.

I thought the Orcs sucked, too CGI and with ridiculous amounts of armour, they looked more like robots than orcs.

I enjoyed it though, a great Christmas fantasy romp.

I thought it was better than Desolation.  I kept wanting characters to survive I knew were going to die (I assumed they would followed the book).

      Hello guys and gals!

so this is the first figure I ever painted, even though these aren't that version.  The first version, which is actually the one you see below that was painted first years ago, is actually the original stripped version that I would have painted when is was probably about twelve.  The original one was painted in model enamel colors, with pink skin, yellow hair and shirts, green paints and I think grey cloak.  I ended up getting back into minis again way back and stripped him before I knew about EBay and was able to get a second copy.  So here's the one I just finished painted a few nights ago:

and here's the one I painted I think in about 2004:

      and here they are together:

So anyways, just thought it would be fun to post, now I'm off to go make some organic pancakes for breakfast!

      Enjoy!

Kickstarter for a Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers inspired movie, "Netflix-y" in production value and style. Jason David Frank is headlining, and we all know that the Green Ranger/White Ranger is the best Ranger. Figured there's a good chance that there's some MMPR fans in the Reaper community, wanted to get the word out.

Having painted a certain number of orcs I've decided that I better get onto my Riders of Rohan force.  They are a combination of Footsore's germanic tribes and some Riders from GW's new starter box.  Started with some horses:

In front are some bare horses from Eureka that I used to test some schemes.  They are quite tiny but should make good objective markers.  This is the guide I used.

I have 8 more horses and am thinking I need some more Bay and Brown horses.
