Marvin
Watched an hour, realized there was still an hour to go, and had to stop. Oy. So now we're watching the best Marvel movie again:
Brother Jim
I just watched Warm Bodies (2013) on SyFy. I had never seen it before. I enjoyed it.I'll be watching Noah (2014) on FX at 7PM tonight. Also my first time seeing it.
Marvin
^Let us know how Noah is. I've been back and forth on bothering with it. Meanwhile, Watching this with the wife. She's never seen it before. I initially thought it was the most overrated entry in the Coens' catalogue; didn't care for it much the first time I saw it. I find I enjoy it more and somehow understand it more fully with each viewing as I grow older, though.
Brother Jim
Noah was about an hour too long (it was 3 hours with the commercials on TV). I wouldn't have been happy to see this in the theater at normal ticket prices. It was merely ok on TV, even with both Emma Watson and Jennifer Connelly in it.
redambrosia
We watched a hoaky horror movie called Unnatural, about genetically modified polar bears running amok. It was just as corny as it sounds.
Lars Porsenna
Re-watched Joan of Arc last night, the version with Leelee Sobieski. Also had Peter O'toole in it, so not all bad. The textile costumes were actually pretty well done, but the armor was complete fantasy most of the time. The Messenger did the armor thing a bit better, but couldn't watch that one as the kids were still up (the rape scene as well as the frequent F-bombs probably not appropriate, although the kids have revealed that they know what that word is...) Damon.
Citrine
We watched the new live action Jungle Book, and it was excellent. I think it is too scary for little kids, it's appropriate for 8 and up in my opinion.
Sergeant_Crunch
I watched The Imitation Game a few days ago. Excellent movie.

Evilhalfling
Watching Harry Potter 1-3 so far. Elderspawn finally got interested in the series at 8. She finishes a book and we put the next movie on hold at the library. Amazon streaming is the back up. she is reading book 5 - Order of the Phoenix, and we have watched movies 1-3. She will have to wait for movie 4 until I get back from ReaperCon. I'm sure she will be done with the book by then. book 5 is one of the least fun to read - HP is a teenage Jerk who gets mad everytime he is not the center of attention. He grows out of it eventually. The Movie downplays this angle and is way more fun to watch. Edited October 18, 2016 by Evilhalfling
TheAuldGrump
Watching Guardians of the Galaxy with Megan... we, uhm, missed it in the theaters. The Auld Grump
warlordgarou
Finally finished the new Tarzan film. It was okay. I enjoyed that I did not have to sit through the Tarzan origin story again - they told it (briefly) in a series of flashbacks in the film. It wasn't horrible, but I don't think I would have paid more than matinee price for it, and it doesn't need to get picked up. It did leave me thinking that I need to read more than the first book or two of the Tarzan series, but that's another thread.
Erifnogard
Went and saw the new Jack Reacher today. It was adequate, though not in the same league with the first. Then went to see The Accountant, which I liked a lot.

We are something like three chapters from finishing the third book, and then will watch the movie. We average a chapter a night, except the final chapters when she gets anxious for the movie. I would bet she will push to read the rest tomorrow. Watching Guardians of the Galaxy with Megan... we, uhm, missed it in the theaters. Babies will do that to ya.
