knarthex
Calling Mad Jack Calling Mad Jack My wife gave my 14 year old daughter permission to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show..... We will be watching at home, but I wonder if you have any suggestions that don't involve throwing things as to how to make her 1st time a little more interesting.... I know some of the audience participation lines, and will likely remember more.... Thoughts????

Thoughts???? throwing things: toilet paper, confetti, rice not throwing things: newspapers, squirt guns, party hats, noisemakers I once brought a bag of rice to The Midnight Movie and played catch with a friend. We didn't open the bag, we just tossed it back and forth. I recommend against lipsticking a big V for Virgin on her forehead, though.
Inarah
Saw Miss Peregrin's last night. I thought it was going to be another angsty teenage coming of age movie.... and it was but it had more story than usual. It was actually pretty good in places. Judi Dench makes a too-brief appearance. Samuel L Jackson struggles with acting a character other than himself but eventually breaks free. I'm guessing the book was pretty good and a lot was left out.
Brother Jim
Tonight will be the 2014 version of Godzilla, which I have not seen yet. (@2000 on TNT). Tomorrow will be Hocus Pocus @1925 on FreeForm. I don't know if I've ever seen it or not.

Talae
Watched the newly acquired BluRay of Nightmare Before Christmas with the family. The kids loved it. The three year old wanted to watch it again immediately upon finishing it...despite it already being way beyond bedtime. He settled with waiting until tomorrow.
aku-chan
Knocked out another of this years superhero movies by watching Batman vs Superman. Had the same problem with it that I had with Man of Steel, it's far too long and far too boring, but I didn't think it was the complete mess a lot of reviewers said it was. Tonight I'm watching April and the Extraordinary World, I'm hoping it's as Studio Ghibli-ish as it appeared in the trailer.
Evilhalfling
Watched: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, - daughter is reading the books so after she finishes each one we get the movie. unfortunately my wife and daughter decided to watch a chunk out of the middle without me. When I watched and compared all the movies a few years back this one came out as one of the best. It reduced some of the flaws in the book (Harry being an angsty teenager goes by much faster) And it made the most out of the books best scenes - Snape, the fight at the end and Luna Lovegood.
redambrosia
Watched the magnificent seven yesterday. It was quite good, they did a good job of setting everything up, building the tension, then having a huge shoot out at the end. This is the fourth iteration of the story I've seen: the original Seven Samurai, the original Magnificent Seven, an anime version of Seven Samurai, and now this one. Oh and they kept some of the original's music. It was good.

Agreed. This was the movie I most looked forward to because I felt the primary flaws of the book were editorial mistakes and editorial changes are mandatory for film translation anyway.

Crowley
My annual viewing of Hocus Pocus was last night, followed up by The Crow, which I haven't seen in years. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it.
