Sirithiliel
Oh agreed, I do feel like current big media is creatively bankrupt. Disney in particular, trying to remake old popular movies live action instead of try something new At least Pixar is still good

Also I agree, it would be nice to see the franchise shake things up a bit, maybe a different timezone (A wild west set Terminator movie would be pretty cool I think, even if it would be pretty much a rip-off of the original Westworld film), or a rival AI or something. But then you run into how risk averse the film industry is these days, which is a whole 'nother problem. Dark Fate, at least, did at least acknowledge that Skynet had been destroyed in T2 and instead established that there was a new enemy AI. It amounts to largely the same thing, but at least it doesn't invalidate how T2 ends like most of the others by just hand waiving that Skynet is "inevitable." A rogue, mass murdering AI may be, but at least it's not always Skynet. The AI in Dark Fate wouldn't be the same one that John Connor defeated, so John isn't required for the narrative to continue. I don't have much complaints about the shift in protagonists - the new "savior" isn't any more or less awesome than John is supposed to be. In fact, she's largely not a hugely bad-elf character like John would've been at the point the narrative takes place. I'm fine with less shoehorning of legacy characters into new movies if it doesn't fit them. Hopefully Arnold is finally out...
Kuroneko
We watched a little low budget horror called Sea Fever after it got a good review from my favorite film critic Mark Kermode. It follows a socially awkward marine biologist assigned to take samples from a working fishing trawler whilst at sea. Obviously, they run into something nasty(it's a horror after all), but I was really impressed with the acting, pacing and special effects. I have a real soft spot for this kind of film and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the directors next one. ManvsMini
I tore myself away from bad martial arts flicks, and watched The Big Sick last night with Kumail Nanjiani. Had never seen anything with him in it, but had seen him on Conan O'brien several times, and found him funny. I really enjoyed the movie, the subtle way some of the jokes are inserted into the dialogue was quite brilliant. Now I have to watch Stuber.

I saw it in theatres, and then inflicted it on my wife when it came to RedBox. We watched My Spy for more Dave Bautista comedy tough guy hijinks the other night. It was dumb fun, which is more or less what I was expecting.
Inarah
We've watched the two Agatha movies, Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar (2019 ) and Agatha and the Truth of Murder(2018). Both proport to be stories inspired by Christie's 11 day disappearance in 1926, with Agatha playing the lead detective role. If you like the genre and the style of her original stories these are reasonably good entertainment. I liked Truth of Murder more, I found Curse of Ishtar a little unplausible. Agatha and the Midnight Murders was set for a 2020 release, I hope to see it soon. Edited July 1, 2020 by Inarah

I remember the tv advertisements for Stuber not making much sense, but once I read the actual plot synopsis, it made much more sense why Bautista needed an Uber driver. They really did a bad job promoting that movie. Looking forward to watching it.

Citrine
We watched 28 Days Later yesterday, and I was kinda disappointed it was just a remake of Day of the Triffids with virus zombies instead of plant monsters. And Triffids was done better. 3
