Tried watching Jojo Rabbit last night but just couldn't get into it.

I think the subject matter may have crossed a line I didn't realise I had.

We usually take turns in picking which movie to watch. After Jojo Rabbit, my housemate quietly informed me that I'd just given up my choosing privileges for the next week :zombie:

Great film, but I probably shouldn't have sold it to them as "from the director of Thor Ragnarok".

It really was a great movie, but, yeah... It took my wife some effort to convince me to go see it.

Hubby and I watched a really good post apocalypse movie last week called Love + Monsters. Really great take on human interactions in dark times, highly recommend.

This was a really good movie.  This was put in my rewatch list.

This weekend we watched Monster Hunter.  Had a bit of Alien Mine feel for a little bit in the middle.  Cool monsters and weapons but I was expecting larger swords and power moves.  Mila plays a great hero but I was not getting "ranger" feels.

I traveled back to the 1990's for some cinematic viewing last week, and watched some movies I was either too young to watch or just never got to see: Beverly Hills Ninja with Chris Farley and then Striptease with Demi Moore.

Striptease wasn't that bad. I know what you're thinking, but hear me out! I remember it being panned by critics, so naturally I had to watch it. The plot was easy to follow, and Ving Rhames really shined, stole the show for me. Burt Reynolds had more memorable lines as a sleazy politician, but Ving was the true gem of that movie. Found out it was based on an actual bestselling novel, so now I want to read the book.

Beverly Hills Ninja was more or less what I expected, just not as funny as I'd hoped. Chris Farley will always be fondly remembered, but I think by the time of this movie all of his health issues were really taking a toll on him. It had funny moments, but it relied heavily on him turning around and running into objects.

That's why I tried it too.

Had some time over the weekend, so my dad and I got together and watched Gladiator and The Last Samurai together, stuff that the girls wouldn't really enjoy.

Gladiator was fine, but in my opinion it's just really sad. Not just in Maximus's personal story, but also - these people are brutally murdering each other just to amuse people.

But The Last Samurai... Dang, I like that movie. A lot less bloody than the former as well.

Oh, that takes me back.....

I think you're roughly the same age as me so CTV Saturday mornings may have been a large part of your childhood. Rocket Robinhood, Hercules and the 60s Spiderman for I don't know how many years in an endless loop along with a smattering of stuff that wasn't older than I am.

Yep, my favorite was the Spiderman episode that was just a reworked Rocket Robinhood episode, down to starting with Spidey crashing in the space ship from RR......

I finally sat down and watched the copy of the Birds Of Prey movie I ordered... Over a year ago?

I loved it. It is, by long stretch, my favorite DC movie of the current era. It was fun, it was adult, and I liked the versions of the characters. I really want a Huntress movie now. Especially if they would put The Question in there (even if I don't more like his politics).
