Based solely on comments I found from Oliver Stone on the film's wikipedia entry, he said at some point in an interview: "I'm going to do a Cecil B. DeMille three-hour-45-minute thing; I'm going to go all out, put everything I like in the movie. He [Alexander] was a complicated man, it was a complicated story, and it doesn't hurt to make it longer and let people who loved the film [...] see it more and understand it more." That ended up being the Final Cut, which I haven't seen (one version was enough for me). Since he said it would have all the footage he liked in it, I don't know if he decided to put EVERYTHING in. I guess it would depend on how high of an opinion he has on scenes he has directed (haven't seen many of his films, just a this one and Platoon)?
CaptainPete
Me: *posts about Alexander* The Thread: So... *brand new information I didn't know* Um... Maybe next week? I think I'll just watch something else instead... And it's a "Director's Cut." No, I don't know which one. I'll look at it later. It intimidates me now.

If you are a fan of Val Kilmer, he's in it, if that helps (not Tombstone-quality Kilmer, but not down at Island of Dr. Moreau either)? And I believe narrated by Anthony Hopkins. There are quite a few faces you might recognize. If it's the Director's Cut, it's probably the one released after the theatrical release (a shorter version!), not the ridiculously long one or the one after that.
aku-chan
I think my DVD rental place is trying to scare me, 6 out of the last 8 films they've sent me have been horror movies (7 if The New Mutants had enough horror elements to be considered a horror film). Last nights was Hellraiser:- Judgement, not bad if rather low budget, but like all Hellraiser movies after the first four it obviously started out as a completely unrelated movie that had a Pinhead cameo shoehorned in (although not as obviously as some, I'm looking at you Hellworld).
ManvsMini
After finishing my RCL commitments, I loaded up that new Zack Snyder movie Army of the Dead on Netflix. I like Dave Bautista and think he's definitely more than just capitalizing on wrestling fame, but it's a pretty straight-forward zombie flick. Had some good moments, nothing terrible, but it was pretty predictable.
Great Khan Artist
I watched the live action Mulan. It was a solidly okay movie. Three of five stars. Of course, my favorite part was Bori Khan's minions' costumes.
CaptainPete
I'm going to watch the original Kite anime tonight. Wish me luck... I'm going to need it.
Mad Jack
In the middle of watching The Kitchen, with Melissa McCarthy, Elizabeth Moss and Tiffany Haddish. Pretty good movie - it's 1978 in Hell's Kitchen, NYC, and they're all married to guys in the Irish mob who've just gotten sent to jail. So they decide to take over their husbands' operations. Only seen about the first hour of it so far, but definitely something worth watching.
haldir
Finally watched The Martian (Matt Damon) the other day. Pretty good flick, I have no idea why it took me so long to watch it.
Great Khan Artist
I watched Soul by Pixar last night. I loved it. It has a therapy cat! How can you not love a movie with a therapy cat?! Not to spoil it at all for you, but it was not the cliche "It's a Wonderful Life" I was expecting.
ManvsMini
This weekend I watched We Summon the Darkness and a bit of nostalgia from the 1990s with the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. One left me wanting Twinkies, the other craving pizza (the pizza was easily solved, the Twinkies not so easily... they don't taste right anymore). The Darkness was pretty good, not entirely what I was expecting when I read the brief summary (and did not recognize Johnny Knoxville). TMNT is always fun.
Julio Johnson
Recently I looked at Mortal Kombat, now I regret wasted time, there is even nothing to comment on, some kind of bottom. But I recommend watching the film Remember (2015). A very unexpected ending.
VitM
We watched The Mitchells vs. the Machines last night on Netflix, at the recommendation of our nephew. It was a pretty cute movie with a few funny moments.
aku-chan
Watched The Warriors last night. Was surprisingly good considering it wasn't really my kind of movie, just disappointed you never get to see the Mime gang fight, I bet those guys were badass.
Crowley
Watched Luca on Disney+. Solid pixar flick. Not great, and I have some nits to pick, but cute.
