And I believe she was about the only actor that the fire-arms advisors had any respect for.

I think I'll have DH set up a triple feature sometime this month. Hudson Hawk, Fifth Element (or Die Hard) and RED.
Mad Jack
Just picked up that classic '80's post-apocalyptic samurai western film Steel Dawn with Patrick Swayze and his wife... Which is actually a fairly decent film despite being such glorious and unapologetic cheese - definitely wins a prize for one of the stupidest ways to carry a sword ever put on film, lol. Fun Fact: one of the villain's henchmen is played by Arnold Vosloo, who would later play Imhotep in Brendan Fraser's The Mummy movies....
PaganMegan
Cast a Deadly Spell wasn't terrible. Gawd, it was like a role playing game!
ManvsMini
I watched Army of Thieves last night, a prequel to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead on Netflix. It's the backstory for the German safecracker in that film, and while it's not perfect, I enjoyed it more than Army of the Dead. Had good humor, and some other familiar faces in the cast.
TheAuldGrump
Waiting for pizza.... Ghostbusters: Afterlife was good. No spoilers, but wait until the film runs out. The Auld Grump

We watched both recently and have to agree that Thieves was better a better story than Dead, though both are entertaining in their own way.
aku-chan
Watched The Suicide Squad, easily the 2nd best Suicide Squad film, although I'm a fan of all four.
Inarah
Tried to watch Jiu Jitsu, and gave up after about 15 minutes. Lots of mediocre action and fight sequences, some poor dialog, and not a plot anywhere to be seen.

Did you get as far as the bizarre (and somewhat nausea inducing) first person POV fight scenes?

Acting/plot-wise, I'm not shocked given that Tony Jaa is in it (he doesn't fair-well in English-language movies, his Thai-language ones are good) and Alain Moussi (have you seen the Kickboxer reboot films...), and also Nick Cage (he'll do anything these days). Frank Grillo is usually decent though, as is Rick Yune, so that's surprising. Action-wise, again surprised, because it has Tony Jaa in it (Ong-Bak is fantastic, as is The Protector/Tom-Yum-Goong), and Alain Moussi, who has done a lot of stuntwork. Hmmm.

It was the comic book/story board scenes between live action that were the initial turn-off. Like they only had a limited amount of time and money for being on set, and filled in with stills. 2 hours ago, ManvsMini said: Action-wise, again surprised, because it has Tony Jaa in it (Ong-Bak is fantastic, as is The Protector/Tom-Yum-Goong), and Alain Moussi, who has done a lot of stuntwork. Hmmm. The action scenes weren't bad, but they weren't good either. I enjoy a good display of skilled, well choreographed moves. (as opposed to a bunch of guys just pounding on each other). The actors may have been professionals, but the result wasn't. And again, there was little or no story, just stupid guy getting into one fight after another. Nic Cage hadn't made an appearance yet when we shut it off. If it's like some of his other movies, he'll walk on in the final 10 minutes, mouth a few words, and collect a check. Sad really, because he is a well experienced actor with good potential, who keeps getting crap scripts. Well, he'll do just about any movie to pay off his taxes and loan debt he accrued from all of his spending. 4 hours ago, Inarah said: And again, there was little or no story, just stupid guy getting into one fight after another. That sounds like a normal Tony Jaa movie. But he's quite a good martial artist, though sadly the man who trained him and choreographed for the two movies I mentioned passed away several years ago.
