We watched the new D&D movie last night. I enjoyed it; it was fun. There were some things 'wrong' with it, but it was 100 times better than the one from 2000, IMO.

I remember that old D&D movie being really bad, but I don't remember why it was bad.  In fact I don't remember anything about it, except I might be able to picture the dragon.  At least, I think there was a dragon.  I figure there must have been.

I haven't seen the new one yet.

The 2000 one was just really bad.  And not bad in a fun, campy sort of way. Bad story, bad writing, awful acting, bad effects, etc.  Disappointment from top to bottom. I saw it in the theater when it came out, and at the end of the movie everyone came out of there like it had been a funeral.  I blanked it out of my mind and 10 years later convinced myself it couldn't have been that bad and watched it at home.  It was that bad. I've forgotten it again, but I do remember thinking "this isn't D&D".

So dig up a copy of Krull or Hawk the Slayer,  they are much more entertaining.

I thought the latest  D&D movie was a fun adventure, had good actors and they did a decent job of it.  I felt it was a bit forced or contrived in places, making the characters do things rather than letting things happen naturally.  But I've had that experience in the game as well, so maybe people like that.

Jeremy Irons was way to serious in it, that's all you need to know. Well, that & Marlon Wayans was in it....::D:

We (my game group - I didn't know Megan at that point) saw it in a theater.

The high point was the trailer for Shrek. Seriously.

There was one (1) good line - 'what you need is a good two hundred fifty pound dwarf woman, with hair on her chin you can hold on to!' - complete with gestures. https://youtu.be/APY8OTdTan4

That 2000 D&D movie was just plain bad.

Now that I think about it, I think there was D&D movie on SyFy a few years ago as well. I think the promo art for it had a black or shadow-like dragon on it.

That sounds like the sequel to the 2000 D&D movie, can't remember the name. I do remember that, while the budget was much lower, the story was much better. The third one was Book of Vile Darkness. Never saw it but a few reviews I saw kind of make me wish I had.

Wrath of the Dragon God?

I don't remember much about it.

That's the one. Couldn't remember the name until I got to work last night. I remember that they included the Greyhawk deities (which was the core book setting at the time), elves that weren't wearing the worst armor, and some other good stuff. The most memorable scene for me was the teleportation error thing.

We just watched Them! from 1954 it was an awesome giant ants movie, sure would be great if they made monster movies like that again.

It's a classic for a reason. Sadly, Atomic Horror has fallen off for a lot of reasons. Tremors was an homage to those old movies, but only the first one. I just read something about a movie that was about aliens showing up... The Vast of Night. That's the one. From what little I've seen about it, it might be in a similar vein.

It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. A bit more adult in nature than the earlier films. Saw it on Youtube like a decade ago or some such.

I am delighted with the movie "Warcraft"! As a fan of computer games and the Warcraft series itself, this movie evoked positive emotions in me.

Director Duncan Jones perfectly captured the atmosphere of the game universe, the detail of the characters, and the grandeur and richness of the fantastic landscapes. Every battle was impressive, and the special effects added realism and energy to the movie.

The plot was exciting and suspenseful with every twist and turn. I enjoyed the intrigue, political games and heroic feats of the main characters. Having the opportunity to see my favorite characters in a live performance, I felt as if I had become a part of this epic journey myself.

The movie "Warcraft" managed to capture the essence of the game and satisfy the needs of the fans. It was an engaging, visually stunning, and attention-grabbing movie that left a deep impression on me. I can't help but recommend it to all Warcraft fans or fans of fantasy adventures. It's well worth a watch!!!

I bought myself a copy of Lifeforce and, oh boy, did it live up to the reputation. That reputation being the most expensive b-movie ever made. It was fun, not terrible, and better than I expected. I enjoyed the life force special effects. I will carefully avoid talking about the other reason why people remember it...👀
