Lars Porsenna
Would you all say Ghostbusters is suitable for a 10yo girl? My daughter loves the original movies, and I think she would love to see an all girl Ghostbusters team just as much... Damon.
Crowley
As a 36 year old guy without children, who hasn't spent much time around them since I was one, I'd say yes.
Inarah
Yes, I'd say it's fine for kids. In fact, we had a 10 year old girl with us last night. It's not really scary, bloody, nasty or sexual, and I only recall a couple of swear words. Cranky dog, I agree. Hemsworth was nice to look at, but his character didn't add anything to the story. Foul language yes; sexual innuendo, not so much (or nothing that struck me as outrageous). And indeed, stay for the whole credits and post-credit scene.
Marvin
Dumb but kind of delightful. Agree with some commentary I saw that stated it would've been better with a little less David Spade. But still. I'm a big Paul Thomas Anderson fan, but this one fell a bit flat for me. Excellent acting, looks great, but the story's just not there, imo. Always been a fan of this movie. Brutal watch. In a good way. Eh. Good movie and all, fun, but isn't it really just the first all over again? Done a bit better? I don't know. Just seems kind of unnecessary, I guess. KruleBear
Was on vacation this week and needed a break from the heat, do we caught an afternoon shoeing of the secret life of pet's. The wife, 3 YO, and myself were the only ones in the theater. Kept my dons attention the whole time. I thought it was sweet, a bit too long, and nothing special...well tube fair I missed part of it when I fell asleep in the middle. When I got home I watched the Atlas Shrugged Trilogy. The first two were enjoyable, but the third was a little too preachy for my taste and seemed rushed. It was also hard to get used to a completely different cast for the same characters from episode to episode.
Marvin
Pretty good. Most everything happens too easily, but it was fun. Bridges was great.
Talae
We watched Muppets Treasure Island tonight. I got the DVD for my birthday. The kids seem to have enjoyed it.
Grumpy Cave Bear
Just finished watching The Mermaid, a Hong Kong comedy/romance/fantasy directed by Steven Chow of Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. Highly recommended, despite the uneven special effects, and some fairly grim material in the third act that earns its "R" rating. My measure of a comedy is if it can make me laugh out loud, and this movie did, frequently.
Crowley
Rewatched Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars A New Hope yesterday. Both such good movies...
Brother Jim
I watched Sharknado 4 last night. It was ridiculous and entertaining, but I didn't think it was ridiculously entertaining.
Citrine
We saw Jason Bourne in the theaters last night, we enjoyed it, but it was not as good as the previous three (not counting Legacy here). The shaky cam was very annoying.
ub3r_n3rd
I re-watched Batman v Superman this time with the Ultimate Edition for the 30 minutes of extra footage on Blu-Ray. I quite enjoyed it and the 30 minutes actually delve into the characters a bit more, there's a lot more coverage of the investigation of Clark Kent into Batman, there's more about Lex and his spiral into madness and re-watching it, I see what they did with the characters that others seem to really hate. Batman is a broken man at this time, he's old, his friend was killed by the Joker, he's jaded and hell bent on exacting vengeance on anyone he perceives to be a criminal or above the law. Superman is also dealing with a lot of stuffs, he wants to help people and is coping with his own emotions and trying to figure out how to best be the hero that is needed. Yes, it's a darker story, but at the same time it's still a good and entertaining story. I don't really care for the whole "Martha" thing where Batman flip-flops on Superman on a dime and wish the whole fight scene (though cool and amusing) between them could've been avoided with Bats talking to Sups instead of wanting to kill him. Marvin
Stuck On You. Not the Farrellys' best at all but not awful. Had some laugh-out-loud moments. The Deer Hunter. I enjoyed this, but I think there's merit to the notion that Cimino's direction was superficial. I didn't buy Walken's character, I don't think. I don't know. Kinda still processing that. Anyway. Also, not a war movie. Which I mean in a good way. Also, way too long. Raging Bull. I'm a rube, I guess; I couldn't stick with this one at all. Just wasn't interested. Didn't finish it. KruleBear
Watched Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russell. Not a bad western, but the cannibal scene was way to graphic for my taste ( can't believe I wrote that!). Also watched Terminator Genisys. The cgi in the first fifteen minutes seemed kind of poor. But in general liked the story and loved the way they wrote old man Swarzenegger's age into his Terminator character. I would recommend it as a fun movie.
