TheAuldGrump
In the wake of the... kinda mediocre Suicide Squad (we talked each other into seeing it) we are watching Ant Man, which neither of us have seen - mostly because Snyder (BvS, MoS) was so nasty about it. (Hey, Snyder? I will take 'flavor of the week' over your crap sandwiches, m'kay?) Suicide Squad wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was... kinda okay? With The Joker being the biggest disappointment. Unlike BvS, it felt that there was the potential of a decent movie, it just never realized that potential. (We both prefer a more character driven film, I guess.) I loved the premise, didn't love the movie. Not bad, just not as good as it could have been. So, Ant Man. Hopes are not high. Hopes are not low. We are just hoping for 'Better than Suicide Squad'. And 'Much better than BvS and MoS'. (Megan has pointed out that you learn more about the character of Deadpool during the opening credits than you do about Superman in two movies....) It has also been pointed out (by Duncan in our Pathfinder game) that Marvel isn't handling the movies each as independent creations - they are episodes of a very expensive TV series.... Each building on the ones that have come before, while setting up the one that follows. I can live with that. The Auld Grump
knarthex
Ant Man was AWESOME!
Marvin
Easily the best Marvel movie. Except for maybe the Captain America ones.
Crowley
I still think that Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite, even if it isn't the best of the movies. Watched the final piece of the Holy Trilogy: Return of the Jedi last night.

ub3r_n3rd
Ant Man was AWESOME! Easily the best Marvel movie. Except for maybe the Captain America ones. It's funny that we all have such differing opinions on movies, because Ant-Man was easily my least favorite of the Marvel movies. I'm not a Paul Rudd fan though. It was better than I thought it would be, but still at the bottom of the heap.
Lars Porsenna
I would put Ant Man into the "I thought it would be just OK, but was surprisingly entertaining" camp myself... Damon.

Having Evangiline Lily in it raised the movie higher on my list.
TheAuldGrump
I don't know what I had been expecting from Ant-Man, but that wasn't it.... It was a heck of a lot better than I had any reason to expect it to be - the hero was witty and engaging - and very much knows that sometimes getting out of the way is the best option. I liked it! On the other hand, it was apparently exactly what Megan was expecting it to be - which gives her the right to tell me 'I told you so', and well earned. I... have a weakness for scoundrels. The Auld Grump *EDIT* Not just 'better than Suicide Squad' - I now want to see an Ant-Man II.... knarthex
I have always been a fan of Ant Man, still have the comics that Scott Lang first stole the suit.... They followed the origin pretty well and I thought it was fun! wife and kids liked it too... Marvel has gotten me back to the movies again these last few years.... TheAuldGrump
I remember people being very worried when Disney took over Marvel Studios.... So far, I can honestly say that I am very happy with their efforts. (Mind you, even some of the not-Marvel Studios Marvel movies have been good - and Deadpool stands out as the most enjoyable movie in a year that had many enjoyable movies.) The Auld Grump - even if I saw more of Deadpool than I had ever expected to see....
Lars Porsenna
I wanted, I mean I really wanted to like Deadpool. It turned out just OK. Not quite the irreverent snark I was hoping for, but it did have its moments... Damons.

EvilJames
Just saw Suicide Squad. I really liked it, although there were a couple of characters that felt really tacked on. Certainly better than BvS. I saw Antman in theaters a while back and while I thought it was a weaker movie than most other Marvel films, that's not really a significant critique.
