Getting to Know Each Other -- January 2015

Recommended Posts

What are you doing and/or what have you done this weekend?

Gaming sunday. Continuing with our Savage Worlds Weird Pulp campaing (on the Orient express!) Truthfully I was having a lot of fun playing D&D 5e, but we have some unresolved storylines to finish up...

Also painting/hobby stuff.

Damon.

Hoping to paint for the first time in...something like two and a half years. Don't have much on hand to work with, but it's better than the nothing I was stuck with for most of that period, so figure it's time to see how much I remember...

Maybe start a WIP thread and we can cheer you on.

Let's see:  Today was Paint Day had a good time seeing everyone and I actually got some major progress accomplished (though I did leave the mini I intended to paint at home).

Tonight: Releasing the Kraken (I have it in front of me now, just need ice) and finishing up PbP Character.

Tomorrow: Cleaning, laundry, packing for my upcoming trip to Scotland.  Might get some more painting done somewhere in there.

Question for the weekend of January 10th:
What are you doing and/or what have you done this weekend?

1. Calling the library to explain that no, we don't know where the insert to the video game we borrowed went, because the kids never opened and played it.
2. Fixing the handle on the back of the car's driver's seat, because half of it came loose.
3. Playing a long-promised game of Talisman with the kids - whoops, there goes half the day.
4. Painting Cthulhu.
5. And apparently, now, teaching my wife how to open a Pillsbury biscuit can. Gotta go!

I used to have that problem; then I got my copy of Legendary and that's the requested game now.

Well, my wife's back from Korea today, so...

If that is anything like when my wife has been away for any length of time, it will mean that you are getting in trouble for the state of the house, lack of items crossed off a to-do list, lack of any remaining snack food in the house, and notable amount of minis with paint on them.

I painted a whole mini from 'prime' (well, brown liner) to finish at paint day! And much good company along the way.

Tomorrow is shopping and whatnot with the girlfriend. I'm long overdue for a good wardrobe refresh, and probably happier about shopping than she is :p

Lots and lots of painting. Went out with the family for dinner the some reading and more painting. Got 4 minis finished and based. Worked on about 8 more.

Tomorrow is church and games with the kids (and more paint if I can manage it. :)

Had an absolute blast today.

My baby hadn't been to Fort Collins in years, but she remembered having a lot of fun there, back in the day, so today we went to go have a look. Hit three different gaming emporiums, one of which had a bunch of old merch at ridiculously low prices, clearanced, and another of which was an amazing coffee shop that rents boardgames.

And then we found THREE used bookstores. All of which had treasures.

Tomorrow will be dull. But at least the laundry will get done.

Felt like microwaved crap Friday night, so didn't go to see the free show at the casino (which was Charo, btw) but still ended up staying up most of the night, and didn't wake up until noon so I was late for Paint Day, didn't bother bringing my paints or anything to work on because I wasn't sure I'd be staying that long, forgot four of my five conversions-in-progress that I wanted to show off and didn't show up until after 2pm. Yes, Jack totally had his <expletive> together the past 48 hours, lol.

However, I did bring my army carrier with me and managed to sort my overflowing top layer of foam with the help of Dlivish Daughter, who spent as much time sqee-ing over some of the old Ral Partha familiars as she did helping, lol.

For her help I promised to paint up the ridiculously tiny hedgehog familiar from set VIII... I fully anticipate spending at least an hour on it, despite being the size of an average mini's fist, lol. (Also noticed today that the cat from that set looks kind of like Oneboot's avatar, so I may have to paint one of them purple, lol)

Added some of my duplicate Reaper familiars/weapon sprues, a random sprue of old-school shields and a handful of metal bases to Aard's box of goodwill, although I misremembered what time the post office was open until, so she didn't get to mail it.

After Paint Day I headed down to the casino for tonight's free show - the Psychedelic Furs... :B):::D::B):

After the show, I hit the arcade for some Fruit Ninja and came in about 5th or 6th place in the Kung Fu Panda Dojo tournament, whipped by a bunch of 13-15-yr-olds, although in my defense I did do rather well (and not just for my third time ever playing the game, either) but was just outclassed by kids who play the game regularly: the tournament came down to a tiebreaker between two kids who played perfect games the first round...

Sunday, assuming I get off here and get to bed before the sun comes up, will be sorting laundry, making my weekly giant pot of soup (aka dinner for the week) and potentially doing some painting, although I'll more likely decide to hit the craft store to get more beads to add to my paints for shakers and then reorganize my paints since they're all over the place (part of the reason I couldn't be arsed to pack them today), and then pull out all my minis and reorganize them since I've acquired two more grey plastic cases (one with two levels of flat slots and one with a single layer of talls) for them in the past year, so I can stop packing them in three/four/five to a slot, lol.

I will then attempt to get to bed at a reasonable hour so I can get back to a non-nocturnal schedule and work on getting the rest of my life back in order.
