NomadZeke
[MOD]Please use the full SKU and name of Reaper minis in the titles of your Show Off threads, per forum guidelines. You can find this information on the blister card or in the online store. I also like to give credit to the sculptor in a tag, so people can find their favorites. Posting Non-Reaper FiguresWhen you post in Show off, please use the topic title line for the name of your creation, and use the tags for the manufacturer. That way, you're descriptive and search-friendly at the same time while giving credit where it's due. Use Tags liberally, for manufacturer, name, part number, modifications done, etc. These help our members find your model! But it's also creating a lot of work for the mods. Ladystorm has already urged folks to comply with these guidelines.[/MOD]Blah blah blah, prior info, blah blah blah This was being discussed briefly in oft-topic rampancy (Me, posting somewhere else? Egads!) but seemed to come up towards a good, albeit somewhat difficult idea. I know many of us have somewhere about 20! minis waiting to be painted, and with bones 2 coming up soon, that number will grow to 20 still. While many make resolutions for the new year, I propose a challenge: A couple questions were already raised:Reaper only? - No.If going on vacation, can I paint a mini(s) ahead to cover that time frame? - Yes.Are speed paints acceptable - Yes.Can it be a mini started previously? - Yes.Based or unbased? - Yes.Do minis for exchanges count? - Yes.I'm looking to this as a way to increase painted output, especially for people like myself who take far too long to paint something without a hard deadline to prevent procrastination, or have several unfinished projects laying around. By year's end should have 52 (or more) painted minis that you didn't otherwise. I'm thinking at least a week till "start" simply due to there will likely be questions and guidelines to be pounded out.Thoughts? Questions?SO! Here we go...Starting January 8th, we will begin the Resolutionary Painting Challenge! EDIT: Holy crap 19 participants (from what I gleaned from this thread.) I would like to keep tally here through the contest so.. Participants: If your name is missing, or you believe your count is incorrect, please PM me. Dilvish the Deliverer
Well, in the 2015 resolutions thread, I said no painting resolutions as I never keep to them anyways. Though I do have 20 minis that are languishing in the "almost done" stage, so I could save those towards a hedge for less productive weeks. That thinking does seem against the spirt of the challenge. I may be in for this one. Of course I've said that for other challenges and have yet to complete one, but with weekly progress required, maybe this one will be the one that sticks.
NomadZeke
Yup, the almost done 20-ish ones would be perfectly valid for this. It's going on the honor system more so, but because I'm a recent college grad (synonym: poor) and can't offer any prizes, it's geared as a fun way to finish up projects. I have about 6-7 that are in the '50%+ done' range which are great for slow weeks.
Flamehawke
I could potentially join. I have to decide. I have enough minis to do it. I just finished 2 of them this week actually.
Adrift
I can't commit to this. With ReaperCon pending in April, the speed at which I churn out paintjobs is about to slow down as I focus on a few pieces slowly and deliberately in the hope of having something worthy of competition. I think it is a great idea however.... Edited January 2, 2015 by Adrift
dsmiles
Excellent idea, but don't count me in. I may churn out minis like there's no tomorrow when I get the zone, but I have a lot of down time (from painting) when my wife is here.
tiniest rhombus
Oh heck, I'll give it a go...I do have that certain shelf, with those certain minis just staring at me, judging me everyday. Might as well finish them. Although I don't think I'll last long.
Marvin
Lovely idea, but I don't think it'll work for me. I've found I like to work in batches. I know I'll take weeks off.

Hey if you have a batch, leave a couple JUST slightly unpainted, and use them for off- weeks. It'll still count.
Kangaroorex
I might be in I could use the drive for some of my speed paints. But you need a better ruling for vacation/travel. Or the first time I head off on an international business trip, I'm out as they are 2 to 3 weeks in length and I have had painting supplies confiscated by airport security before. Both in checked and carry on. Allow paint a heads for this and I'm game :)
NomadZeke
That's actually addressed in the second question
Flamehawke
Ah. What the heck. I'll see if I can turn out at least one mini a week. This begins on the 4th?
NomadZeke
I wasn't sure on the exact start date, with seeing how more people might yet check this...I might say the the 8th, because that way it'll be 51 weeks and the year ends on a thursday.
Flamehawke
Alright. I like start days to help with. Any idea of how your going to maintain this? I'll try and post a picture of at least one mini finished in the time frame of each week. Maybe a group shot of them all at the end of the year.
