Marsya
Finished number two for the month, just two more to go.
Moderator OneBoot Posted February 13, 2015 Moderator Share Posted February 13, 2015 Informal poll: Do people like or dislike the 'specific challenges' like this month? I'd plan to do 6 across the year. Possibly more if people like it enough. Thoughts? I like them! But I agree with FireElemental; I would prefer it if the challenge deadline was the end of the month, same as the regular 4. I will have my Valentine's mini done by the end of the month (it involves a goblin, and a Boneyard piece from Reaper.... ), but there's no way he'll be done by the challenge deadline. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
Flamehawke
I have to agree. If it is only one end of the month would be easier and allow a bit more thought for some people if they want it
Jasper_the_2nd
I like the challenge idea, although as I've been a complete slacka$$ so far this month, I won't be doing one, since I haven't completed ANYTHING yet. Hopefully get some painting done today at lunch, and over the 3 day weekend. At least on the weekend I can stop obsessively watching the shipping tracker...
terminalmancer
Acquiring minis on two weeks' notice will be more challenging for some people than for others. A month's lead time would give more people the opportunity to acquire the minis and materials they want for the challenge, if they don't happen to already own what they want to paint.

Its just one more excuse to own all the minis. That way you always have what you need!

Trying to keep my brain happy with owning MOST of the minis here....

Not everyone could afford to participate in the Bones kickstarters! :o) (also Bones II won't be fully distributed until March...) We actually ran into this problem for the Valentine's challenge--FireElemental wanted something that was only available in metal and our local stores barely stock Reaper metals anymore. And Reaper was into Bones II fulfillment at that point, so it's not like she would have gotten it in time had we ordered it. She's got a backup plan in place, I believe, but not everyone will.
korimar
I love the monthly challenge idea and agree that they should be end of month. March would of course be St. Patrick's Day themed, April- Easter, etc.
Kangaroorex
So in March we can expect to see a horde of leprechauns on owls? That would make an interesting warlord army...
Jessie
Informal poll: Do people like or dislike the 'specific challenges' like this month? I'd plan to do 6 across the year. Possibly more if people like it enough. Thoughts? I really like it. It makes me be creative and do something a little different than I would otherwise do. I get what others are saying on having the whole month (since the typical speed of this challenge is 1 mini a week), but having this and me trying to do the Little People Beauty Pageant meant I got a lot of minis done earlier in the month than I probably would have otherwise. And in both cases, I painted minis I might not have selected myself. Which is perfect, because then I'm just trying to get my stuff done and the challenge stuff. My V-Day entry was pretty not creative, but after the fact I thought of something more clever. So I wouldn't mind a "bonus" challenge every month even, give me a chance to try to be more clever in the future, especially if you give folks the whole month. Also have really loved seeing what everyone else has done or will do with the bonus challenge. Assuming it's bonus and doesn't count against folks just trying to get their four per month in, I wouldn't mind seeing more of them (every month!) Just my opinion. Loving this challenge so far. It's really making me serious about my progress. Which I am gonna need since a huge box showed up yesterday.

pcktlnt
The challenge was to paint it before a deadline within the month? Some reason my brain associated the challenge with the end of the month. Oops. Looks at Pinky. Sorry bud.
NomadZeke
This is the feedback that helps make a better challenge. It seems like people have been better about show off guidelines too lately
pcktlnt
Are we still allowed to submit the miniature as part of the challenge for the end of the month? I don't think with my painting speed it will finish by tomorrow. Unless I don't go out tonight...
