So yeah.  My wife and I saw The Hobbit:  Battle of the Five Armies.  Good movie.  For the two of us, it was the least amongst the 6 "Tolkien" movies, but good nonetheless.   On to the question!

How do I create/model (but not fully sculpt) a female dwarf riding an armored hog?  My wife was so amused that she now wants to play a female dwarven paladin, with a hog mount.  Many jokes quickly come to mind, but I do indeed love my wife.  ;)

So..... hints, suggestions, bugger offs?  I'm a pretty fair modeler, and not too shabby hacking/modding minis, so any starting points would be awesome.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  :)

Ken

You could chose a mounted female who is separate from her horse or whatever. Here;s Reaper's:

...you can order the rider without the mount. Lead Adventure Minis make some cool, mildly cartoony pigs...they have a Bard mounted on a fez wearing pig. You can get the Lead Adventure minis from C.M.o.N..

I might start with this figure:

She already has an open stance that with a little tweaking could get her into a riding pose.

Then use this boar figure from Reaper

It has a nice open back just waiting for someone to sit on it.

Rebel Minis makes a pair of Goblin Knight Jousters riding pigs if you want more of the pot-bellied pig look.  I know I've seen others as well, but those are the most recent I've seen.

That with any of the dwarves above would make a fine version of what you're wanting to do.

Anyone else find it a bit scary that a search for "mounted female" includes skeletal cavalry?!

Not really. I once had somebody tell me most of the skeleton miniatures she saw were female - wide pelvis I guess.

Oh, and runway models in the fantasy era really achieved that impossible thin look.
