Projects are twice as likely to deliver late if they overfunded by more than 10x the original goal.

 

To be honest, I'm surprised the likelihood of delivering later isn't much higher when projects overfund by that much, given how much that usually changes the scope of the project.

 

Mini/gaming related projects probably are much higher. But for a lot of projects, they don't get caught up in the stretch goal mania so greatly exceeding targets usually means a little longer manufacturing and possibly much longer shipping. I backed a comic that ran into that, it raised more than expected, small delay until shipping which took months.

 

Of course that makes me wonder whether the numbers Bryan quoted refer to starting shipping or finishing shipping. That can be a real wide spread.
