Evilhalfling
Factorio looks very interesting. Who thinks we'll hear some news before Friday's update? Or will Friday arrive with a "holding pattern" update? If the container is released from customs between now and Wednesday, I would not be surprised if Bryan updated us soon after he was notified. If it's released Thursday, I would expect him to wait until Friday to update. However, if it's not released, there isn't much other than "holding pattern" to update with. So by my memory the Jan 28 is one of the most likely dates for the shipments to be released from customs.... arrived in US, on Jan 10th, +2 days to texas, + (8, 13,14,16, or 28, +? days)* in customs. making 16 the median time spent in customs. ReaperBryant said he wanted 1-3 days to organize, including? a 24-72 hour warning e-mail to catch changed addresses. so Thursday / Friday both seem likely. she be coming around the mountain when she comes, she'll be pulling 6 white dragons when she comes....

ttuckerman
I will neather confirm nor deny that I am a few miles form the containers as we speak. The sun is going down at this time in Dallas. (Now where are my black shirt and pants.)
FaekiasDracon
A very dark blue blends in with the night sky and most other darkness better than black, the only places that are totally black when dark are caves and rooms built for that specific purpose. I would suggest trying the darkest blue or purple you can find for a night infiltration, but then there are the logistics of how you are going to get three shipping containers moved to Lewiston once you get in.
Pingo
Human night vision is most sensitive to blue-greens. If you don't want to be seen in the dark, wear browns or reds. Even yellows will look pretty dark.

Doug Sundseth
The median tone of the world averages out to a medium gray tone. Some places will have a color cast, but it tends to be pretty subtle. A medium gray or a khaki of about the same value (like the color of a lion, not coincidentally) works really well for disappearing. Out in the boonies, the actual color hardly matters at all, since it's normally dark enough that you're seeing with the rods in your eyes rather than the cones. In a town, say Dallas, for a random example, the color matters more, but again, grays and tans are likely to predominate. (Look at modern urban camouflage for examples of what the experts think will work best.)
Pingo
That's what I meant about blue-green wavelengths, though. The rods in our eyes are not equally sensitive to all colors. They can only see one wavelength of light (or rather, a small range around blue-green, about midway between the ranges of our daylight blue and green receptor cones). In the dark we have black-and-white vision precisely because we only have one color receptor, the rods, instead of the three different types of daylight receptors which allow us to differentiate colors in bright light. It is as though we were looking at colors at night through a very strongly colored turquoise filter, so that everything is only visible in, as it were, a grayscale based on how much blue-green it reflects. If something reflects blue-green light, we can see it. If not, it will look black to us.

Doug Sundseth
If something reflects blue-green light, we can see it. If not, it will look black to us. You want some reflection, though, which is why black or red is a poor choice in most environments. That deep black hole is pretty visible to someone who knows to look for it, while a variegated gray or beige is much harder to see even if you know what to look for.
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted January 27, 2015 Moderator Share Posted January 27, 2015 Speaking of not seeing something coming until it's too late... As this is an official Reaper Bones II update and discussion thread, started by ReaperBryan himself, I'd strongly urge a return to topic here before Ladystorms return. And yes. I am using my <<<MOD>>> voice here.
Thes Hunter
I think we will get an update on Friday even if they are released from customs before then. Why? Because as soon as we know they are released we will turn to a rabid pack of raving lunatics. At least I know I will. They will still need time to unpack and organize what is needed for shipping from the containers, and to send some test shipments. So for all intents and purposes it doesn't really change much if they are released from customs on Wednesday and we get the update on Friday. But hey I could get surprised and get notified before then.
