Thes Hunter
I think how quiet the KS comments have been is a good indication that people perceive the communication as good to adequate. I'm actually a little shocked that there hasn't been a lot of "Where are my Bones?!" my recollection from about this time last Bones was there was a lot of rumbling and grumbling, and I wonder if a factor in that was that by that point a few people had gotten their vampires, but not everyone had. So maybe more people were confused because some people had gotten their minis while the majority were still waiting. While in Bones 2, No one has gotten their minis. I hope the tax consequences of holding onto stock this long aren't too bad.

We actually get 2-3 e-mails and KS messages per DAY form backers asking where their rewards are. Taxes are what they are. Most of the expenses were paid before Dec 31, with the exception of our postage costs for fulfillment (obviously) and inventory tax is relatively small. Thes Hunter
(rhetorical question) But how does that compare to the private messages and emails you got weeks prior to the full scale fulfillment (ie. not the first wave of vampire only shipments)? From what I can see, at that time there were multiple, multiple comments and discussions, on the KS comment thread that just don't seem to be there right now. I am sure you guys are still fielding lots of questions, but it appears you have a little less to juggle with the KS comment thread. But the KS comments could explode as soon as the 24-72 hour warning email goes out. I for one am just glad the tone in the comments have stayed basically excited expectation, and not the back and forth arguments about who should get what and when with all the armchair quarterbacking. That wasn't pleasant for me to read, I doubt it was any less so for people whose job it was to read and answer.

The Waves seem to have helped - the 2's and on know they have longer to wait, and are primed with that knowledge, so they wait. The continual communication and pre-communicated update schedule changes have made long gaps (like this one) easy to handle, and the flow of information from us has been consistent, if not always pleasant. I am not looking forward to the possibility of not having actual news to report in 2 days, should there be no release notice by then, but I am confident that should that become the case, there will not be a storm of anger such as we had with Bones I. I can attest how unpleasant is was for me to read last time, as now I do not dread the KS page. There's still a small amount of people trying to math the system and guess timetables, but no anger. That said, not all of the e-mails are pleasant, some of them are quite rude. I am empowered to offer them refunds, although at this time I am not (yet) empowered to, shall we say, Compel a Refund. And I'm guessing that less than half you offer refunds to actually take the refund? I have to admit, I'm very, very disappointed that Bones II didn't ship on time, and that we are still waiting. I am not, however, inclined to get angry at you or Reaper over this - it is what it is. Crud like this happens all the time - the important part to me has ALWAYS been how well and how honestly delays and issues are communicated, and on that part, neither Reaper nor you have ever let me down. Back during Bones 1's frustrations, I thought about as an exercise in writing, how much fun it would be to write up a fictional timeline of either of the Bones campaigns as if it was being managed by Defiance Games. Then DG went and did their own KS and took the fictional element out of it. Whenever I get frustrated with a KS, I look at that one, and a couple of others I'm aware of, and it puts the problems in perspective.

As one of the people who was fairly vocal that I wanted better communications last time around, Kickstarter II has met every one of my expectations and blown it out of the water. Bi-monthly comms? Great! Keeping us informed even if there's nothing to report? Massively appreciated. Adventures of Sir Forscale? Amazingly fun! The wave system certainly contributes, but I honestly feel the communication has been what's made the biggest difference to me. I know what's going on, and I can plan around it. It makes my life easier, and it's greatly appreciated. A heartfelt "Thank you!" is due to both Reaper as a whole, and ReaperBryan in specific from me. Thank you!

Well now, if someone wants to get a refund for their DDS I'd be happy to buy it. It's the one thing I really regret not getting ~ S ~

Crud like this happens all the time - the important part to me has ALWAYS been how well and how honestly delays and issues are communicated, and on that part, neither Reaper nor you have ever let me down. I suspect that, had Bones II stuck solely with the Core Set, that it probably would have delivered on time (or very near to it). The sheer number of add-ons that got unlocked for both Bones I and Bones II, plus the wide variety in pledges that result from a "pick and choose" design, probably plays havoc with timetables and estimations. Suddenly having twice as many molds (or more) and a greater variability in the number of figures needed to be produced cannot be simple to account for, even with metrics from a previous campaign and years of industry experience. Personally, I view the longer-than-expected wait times to simply be part of the "cost" of Kickstarter projects. I also remind myself that it's not like I have a shortage of miniatures on-hand waiting to be painted...
Mad Jack
Even from the start of KS1, I've always assumed all times and dates other than SoonTM, to be subject-to-change best-guess estimates based on the limited information and lack of precognition and/or advanced time travel technology available at the time of posting...

Talae
Spend every week lately thinking "is it Friday yet?" The update is not the only reason for this.
gmpathfinder
The psychology of patience is fascinating. The only thing worse than human memory is our ability to predict the future. If you've ever waited in a long line, only to get to the very front and have the lane close down (or the ride break down, or whatever the queue was for stop), you know how more frustrating it is than having to wait in the back. Heaven forbid someone cuts you off to take your spot!Reaper has done a fantastic job of filling the time with the stories from Sir Forscale.
