January 9 Update Discussion

Recommended Posts

Every year we get 1-2 people whose paint freezes and we need to work with them to fix it.

We have given a lot of thought how to prevent this, but so far haven't found any workable shipping solutions that make it viable, so in the meantime, we're just replacing everything that's gone bad.

Reaper Coolers.

At least for the big paint sets.

Pack the paint in big coolers with Sophie on them during the winter months. Sure, we'd have to pay a little more, but we'd also get a cool Reaper Sophie cooler to take tailgating or to the beach or camping.

Wait...do other gamers actually get outside and do that stuff?

Now I really want a Sophie cooler. It would make the perfect lunch box for work.

This has been my only real concern with the delays. It will be my luck that I'll have my package sitting on my porch for 3 days during a snowstorm when I can't get home to get it inside.

or.....  signature required for delivery on paint orders over $75?

In all honesty, that's probably the easiest solution if Reaper can flag specific order to require signature for delivery.

Or maybe make it an option? It's not needed year-round, and some areas never need it, but it might be nice to be able to choose whether a package was drop-off or not. And on a big paint order, I wouldn't mind slipping them the extra 2-3 bucks to get my order sig.cert'd...

The quicker you want it, the more likely US Customs is to take longer, in my experience.

If that's the case, mine should be here tomorrow. I don't have the space right now, so I don't mind Customs and Reaper taking their sweet time.

It is possible to have your USPS mail held at the P.O. for a period of time by your request, typically while you are on vacation.  I don't know if you can have a specific package held, however.  I've never checked into that.  Anyway, it is a way to prevent a package sitting on your porch if you know it is coming.  Requiring a signature would be a better option IMO.

Yes, you can do it online too. It holds ALL MAIL and they will deliver when you specify the date you are back home.

I'm ready for the bones2 !   - this is going to be awesome.

Bones 1, finished.

But I still have unpainted minis!  I won't even get through my anthropomorphic rodent minis in 35 days.

although I might finish all my non-anthro-rodent figures I have less than 20 of them.

Bones2 is eagerly anticipated

I could wait a while on Bones3,  perhaps 2016?

Isn't the problem with insulation that eventually it reaches ambient temperature anyway unless there is an independent heat source (like a puppy, say) inside? It slows temperature changes, but won't stop things from freezing given enough time. Or am I wrong about this?

I am interested in your paint puppy ideas and would like to subscribe to your news letter.

Also you are completely right about the way insulation works.

I ordered over 200 bottles of Reaper paint during the 12 Days sale in 2012, delivered to upstate NY in single digit temps. Bryan reassured me everything would be copacetic and it was.

Yeah, that's been my experience with paint deliveries, as well.

The only thing I'd add to that is that if there's a big change in temperature between day and night (or indoor and outdoor), sufficient insulation can keep the temperature close to the average of temps. If the average is above (or enough above) the critical temperature, this can prevent problems. Without insulation, when the air temperature drops, the product temperature changes much more quickly, so even a shortish period of very cold temperatures can be a problem.

But I like the puppy idea too.

I do know that if we ever do a Bones III Sir F will have a whole new adventure!

/wallet twitches

*Continues breathing as of now*

Whoever quoted that there would be a Bones III seemed to imply it was going to happen before my bonus arrived.

Hahaha Bones-us.

Please pardon my inefficient attempt at a portmanteau / double entendre.
