Try a light wash of like a violet in the shadows, I think it'd look good since it'd be more on the red side, but it'd give it a little more pop and an alien look. It'll also work because red/green and purple/yellow as you've gone up in the highlights with adding more yellow to your green mix.

Thanks Ub3r;

That seems like it will give me a good launch off space when I get to the higher highlights.

I really like the sculpted look of the mini at this stage.

I can see where things are, and can make some color value choices about the fiddly bits.

I'm thinking of copper for the metals (not the blades).

Wash warmed up the shadows quite a bit, and yeah, that made a very nice enhancement.

I'll take photos after tomorrows painting session !

Had to clean up wet palette since it was getting dry, all those old colors were beginning to prove to be difficult, and in the way.

So.. New paper soaking, sponge washed and loaded with water, waiting another fifteen minutes for the hot water to

do its magic.  Since I had an empty box sitting there, I whipped out the camera.

Here is the Mini with some thin Violet wash applied to the shadows.

It is subtle, but it adds a really nice richness to the Mini.

Went to Breakfast this morning, so it cut down on my painting time a bit.

A nostalgic moment when I started painting, and remembered how I would freak out over all the

leather straps on a Mini, I painted them all and just laughed.  Really like how this is coming along.

It is also wildly energizing to just experiment on this one.

Not in a rush to finish either, and that makes me glad.

Here's the Martian, with enough arms for all his weapons..LOL.

I have to run a couple errands, but I wanted to post the Horde Warrior before I left.

I've been completing little segments I need to get done.

Pistol is painted, swords are done in honed steel, I was planning doing the medallions in Copper, but after looking at it,

I'm thinking I don't like the color.  Probably going to switch that to an antique brass color, with some antigue gold highlights,

same for the helmet.  I thought the copper would looking interesting, but I think I hate it ?

Here he is:

I think the antique brass with some reddish brown glazes (like mahogany or chestnut) in the shadows would look pretty good.

Bring Bring Bring.. Ub3r got the brass Ring..

(now that's a trivia question)..ROFL.

The Brass was the ticket..The copper undercoat also helps in this.

Left some copper ting in the medallions, around the designs in them.

I REALLY like this.

Once I start highlighting the greens, all heck is going to break loose.

The olive drab is keeping the camera from picking up the highlights off the metal (its there).

Here is what he looks like now.

Happy Friday !

I've been up since 0515 this morning.

My body decided I was getting up, I wouldn't have minded avoiding the early morning cold..LOL.

Oh well, had my coffee and started to paint.

Time is coming to start thinking about basing soon.

Since I have been getting the photos down to around 60K, I hope that you don't mind the extra photos I have

been tossing in.  I am finding this particular mini a lot of fun, and very liberating.  I can also experiment at

will, and have been doing a great deal of it.  Here is where he stands now.

I really like how the miscles are now popping off that Mini;  and the purple in the shadows is coming to the

front with the highlight added to the muscle mass.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated !

Nice!  I think the tops of his feet and the backs of his legs could use a little more attention from your light green.  This is looking awesome though.

I had a metal mr. Grimm sitting around, so I figured better paint it before the bones version shows up.

      So cold mr. Grimm

Honestly didnt realize the size of this figure when I'd ordered her. Came in and I was like, oooh she's giantkin or some kind of goliath.
Mine also had a hole in the base, but since I was extending the metal plate out to fit on a plastic base anyone, no worries.

Well 2020 is over and even though the year wasn't so great I did get my dragon goal of 12 dragons completed (actually completed 15 !) So with the new year I'm looking to try it again.

The last year I did a bunch of dragons from all eras a d makes.  This year I think I will make the challenge a little more specific.  This year I'll try for 12 dragons from defunct companies: grenadier, Ral Partha, Thunderbolt Mountain, heritage, and others that are no longer producing today.  Whether i include minis from companies that died recently, im not sure (and I  know Ral Partha lives on as Iron Wind and Grenadier lives on as Merltion?  But I'm including them because its my challenge and the ones I have are the originals.

That said the first piece I did was the Bridge of Sorrows.  It came out really well so I let my better half look through my old boxed sets and she chose the next one:  Clutch of Fear!

This is another mini that I have had sitting in its box waiting for decades to be completed and its time has come (besides if I really mess up they have started recasting the molds again so its not an utter disaster. Also, since i have this one in the original box, I thought i would do a WIP to show how it goes.

Here is what it look like when I opened the box...

All the parts are there, including the instructions (more on those in the future) and an "inspected by 3" as well as assembly instructions.

Hope you all enjoy the ride.  I'll try to be diligent with updates.

My Secret Sophie arrived at its destination i can share with everyone.  My recipient wanted something cute.  I thought it would be cute to have a man feeding his pet.  Just because his pet happens to be a rust weevil should not be held against him.

I saw the barbarian and it looked like he was throwing the swords rather than. Actually using them to hit anything.  I also had a spare rust weevil and the whole thing just came together.

Roger got the old swords out of the box from his adventuring days.  It had been a while since he'd been out to the dungeons but at the rate George was going through weapons, he was either going to need to buy a new crate or go delving.  Maybe this time he'd just buy a box of old weapons, let the younger kids go fight the baddies.  These two look okay.  He grabs the weapons and heads out to the field.  When he reached the edge of the field he looks out over the fine red and tan soil and dust.  HEY GEORGE!  He yells out over the field.  In moments George shows up jumping and chittering.  "Hey George" he says again, "its dinnertime!  FETCH!"
