Marineal
Hey Bryan, All this talk about Order # and Waves is great but some of us really want to know how the pick up at HQ will work? Do I need to let you know I am heading up or do you guys have a special list for those and you will let us know as soon as they are ready? I will be telling work I am out for the rest of the day once I hear shipping has started UNLESS you tell me I need to wait until I hear from you guys first. :) For those with Orders Held for Pickup - PLEASE DO NOT just start showing up. We will have details for the 56 of you with HELD orders available in an Update. It is highly unlikely that we will pull these 56 orders first thing on day one. I may be contacting you individually to let you know your order was pulled, or we may find a faster method. I'll be honest, right now there's a lot happening and the process is still not fully locked down. Sounds good to me! Since we actually have to plan a weekend to go down, it's not like we can show up the very day things start shipping =P So i'm cool with waiting until I'm notified This. We've decided to make it a weekend event.. but he doesn't know I'm going to pack a bag and table!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!
Reaperbryan
I believe it was already discussed that the order number seems to have more to do with when the pledge manager was first opened (perhaps even during the campaign) and not with when you locked in your pledge. We compared order numbers with lock in times and there seemed to be no correlation. (I have an order# in the 2000's with a lock in date of 12/11/13) Remember you could get into the pledge manager and check on shipping and other things while the KS was ongoing. I remember it even saving selections I had made previously, and this was beyond cookies. So likely stored in a database, and databases need keys, so likely the order number is the business unique identifier for the pledge manager, and therefore would be related to the 1st time you accessed the pledge manager, and not when you locked in. Correcting my previous reply: We are not actually shipping by "order number". We are shipping by Lock-Time (Which While I tend to think of it as "Order Number" It'a actually "Lock-in Order"). That is, the database, contrary to my previous post, DOES store what time you either A) Paid extra moneys for items beyond your original pledge or B)Locked in Owing Nothing. So the advantage to Locking In Early remains. The Wave One person who locked in First among Wave Ones, will have their order Printed first, and be first in line for scanning. As before, both carriers, USPS and UPS pick up once daily, so again the difference is not "mine shipped 8 hours before yours" but only "mine had postage applied 8 hours before" and both physically left the building at the same time. But yes, this is the incentive for locking in sooner. If each wave takes 2-3 days, the early locks will gain 1 to 2 day advantage over the later ones within their same wave. Reaperbryan
I have been hounding my gaming group to double check their orders to see that they are finalized. They all rolled their eyes at me and said they were already finalized. Then today, one of the guys said his "got unlocked and it looks like he can still add funds." I advised him to finalize ASAP and to probably not add to his order since I am not sure it will get added to his package or if it will just cause confusion. Did I make the right call? We have recently locked down the ability to add new funds to the Bones II project for persons not locked in. He will be able to allocate his original pledge amount, but will not be able to add additional anymore. This was supposed to have been implemented a while back, and wasn't, so a lot of people were lucky that they had more flexibility than they should have. I may be over-extrapolating this from your tone, but it seems that you don't even consider someone adding funds (when they could) but you not fulfilling the order as the new request as Not Even an Option. I like that. I spent a significant portion of yesterday trying to reach backers who gave us money but failed to lock in anything. As much as I totally want to keep their money, in the interest of honesty we are trying to give them every chance to receive the rewards they desired. I don't know how to say this without sounding rude, but some of the people who have supported our project seem to not grasp certain concepts, and I want to give them every chance to try to do this right and get their rewards. We did not, after all, ask for charitable donations, but support.
naponatom
HOLY MACARONY! I was double checking my 3 pledges, and I just notice I never got the Kanjira! During the excitement of pledging management back on january 2014 I was trying to minimize my shipping costs to a minimum. And to do so, was juggling back and forth between 3 pledges my enourmongous number of miniatures. During this, one miniature fell off and I didn't notice. DARN! I guess I will have to get him (her? it?) latter.
Thes Hunter
I have a feeling Kanjira will hit the Reaper Minimum for free shipping for your region, and then you wouldn't have to worry about the weight (and potentially customs) she would have added. So sorry you missed her during the KS, but it may still yet turn out to be a wash... or even a good thing in the grand scheme. --- @ReaperByran - Thanks for the update, that makes a lot of sense now! (Sorry if my questions/contemplation cause any problems!)
Pingo
I'm probably going to be close to dead last in my particular wave then. I've been really absent-minded about locking things in in a timely fashion.
Crimson_king_of_the_tower
I'm probably going to be close to dead last in my particular wave then. I've been really absent-minded about locking things in in a timely fashion. Im probably in the same boat its not that I forgot I just waited till the last minute to add as much more money as I could lol. So I am probably one of the last wave 1's to lock in but not worried since that only means 1-2 days difference once things start!!!
LittleBluberry
I think "dead last" would be reserved for the people who forgot there was a deadline and locked in 6 months afterwards. I know I waited until January of 2014 before I finalized, as did most people.
Dontfear
I got in the early bird wave so there really isn't much difference between the first order pulled there and the last. It could get more uncertain the further our you are but I don't think it will matter much one way or the other where you sit in your wave.
amuller33
So are you guys looking to add any temporary staff for the packing? Will work for minis!!!
cthulhudarren
Looks like I'll be in the 13k range of orders out the door even though I was in Wave 1. Oh well. Edited February 3, 2015 by cthulhudarren
Soreena
Wave 2 ~ 14k but no biggie, I waited this long so what's another week or so. I'll be excited just to hear that others are getting their Bones. ~ S ~
Flamehawke
They are still doing it by wave. So if you are in wave 1 then your order will go out when they do wave 1. Same with the other waves. When they do that wave they will do all of that wave. At least that is how I understand it.
Harrek
I think you will all find that they get through a wave pretty quickly this time. I think they learned a lot from the last Bones KS on packing and shipping. Having a high number in a early wave won't matter much I'd think. Given a wave is 2000 people and they hope to be able to have 1000 packages done (or more perhaps as they get into the swing of things) it would only really mean you fall on the first or second day for your wave.
NomadZeke
That's good to know...though I'm gonna be pretty far down wave 1...(that's what I get for letting people piggyback on my order...)
