[MERGED] Bones II Shipping Excitement/Wave

Recommended Posts

I have been told that sometimes ParcelForce (is that right, I admit to being unfamiliar with this) recognizes the tracking. This was from a tweet sent by one of our UK backers, so I have no quotable source.

Nop. The response was:

Please review the information below
  • Parcelforce Worldwide parcel tracking reference numbers are either 9, 13 or 14 characters with no spaces. Please check and re-enter.

And the UPS tracking code uses 18.

::):

ParcelForce would apply only to UK backers, although as before, I'm not 100% sure how accurate the tweet was.

I'm fairly sure, Naponatom, the your parcel will not be delivered via UK's Parcelforce, since you live in Brazil.

One can hope... :wow:

But if I could, I´ll be receiving my parcel in Norway!   :bday:

Edit: because english.

After many days trapped in Bensenville, and still more days held hostage by customs, I am pleased to report my bones have arrived (ROW wave 6). With so much goodness overflowing from this box of fun, I don't even know how to go about cataloging them to see if anything is missing... so far the only issue I've noticed is one of my demons has two right claws...

Anyway! Fantastic job reaper team! And a special thank you to Ladystorm for pulling my order.

Got 'em. And I am loving Khanjira and DDSII. All the figures are nice of course, but those two made the order. Everything is excellent in fit and finish, hardly any warping at all. I don't know who 12701 is, but that person did an excellent job packing, no discrepancies at all. Bravo zulu Reaper.

So my Wave 10 box arrived today. With just a Kraken and a bag of bases missing I decided to take photos and catalog the three core expansions, just to make sure I had no missing bits, and I don't, yay!

Also showing off the figure case.

This is two bags worth of small bases, one medium, and one large.

Will be looking over and taking pics of everything else over the next few days.

I was surprised to find 9(!!) Kulathi, I thought there would only be 3.

I've found boiling to be very effective at straightening this new stiffer bonbesium. My calidrith sits really well after a dunk.

Eta: with so many models unassembled, which is fine, why oh why are the riders in expansion 1 glued to their saddles! Even if you didn't want to paint them they would dry fit just fine, and painting will require separating them somehow. They are otherwise awesome.

Got my box yesterday, had time to open it this evening!

Shiny shiny Bones, everything complete and in order.

First miniature painted will probably be the big Rat Ogre from Oh, Rats, as he'll fit beautifully into a ratmen (ahem, Skaven...) Bloodbowl team I'm going to be using soon.

Cool figures all around, nicely done Reaper.

Only things I'm missing are all the bases

Got mine yesterday and everything is accounted for except for the bag of bases. I had three orders in the last wave and I'm guessing they were just flying by so fast it got missed.

Go

Bowser is currently sitting on my painting table, along with the three toadstool men.  And the little turtle dude.  I'm planning a 'Where's your Mario now?' scene.

Re: Tracking to the UK.  The UPS number doesn't work on the Parcelforce site and, as people have found, the UPS tracker is patchy and slow to update.  Once I got my letter to pay the fees, there was a Parcelforce number in the letter and I could track from then on and also get a much more detailed view of the previous travels of my Bones.  The good news for UK backers is that once the letter arrives, delivery is next working day if you pay the fees online.

My Bones arrived today (ROW wave 1).  It looks like Shannon did a flawless job picking my order.  And having spent the afternoon inventorifying (that is totally a word!) them I have not discovered any errors at all.  Good job Reaper.

Well after phone Parcel Force yesterday and them denying they had a parcel for me low and behold the letter arrived today. Good job the nearest depot is only 30mins away so I made a family trip out to collect them. All the main items are present, I have yet to go through the core set and expansions in detail, but my two sons are playing with the other models. In particular the DDS 2 castle.

The models are well worth the wait. I will post a proper update once the two monsters have gone to bed tonight.

Got the duties and VAT letter today. Paid it online and the package should be delivered the next working day (so I'm guessing Monday), so what TheHetman says above for the UK is true for Denmark also. Got a working tracking number too (although it's kind of moot, since it'll be delivered very shortly, but it actually shows information back to the US).

$433 in total for duties, VAT and handling fee...

Talked briefly to my friend who has received his already. He didn't find any missing parts, although he did say something about a few miscasts (missing fingers and such small detail).

Here is my Kanjira. The pose of the monster made me think it could be a good idea too make it emerge through the Trees. A vision of Knightmare, for sure.

Also did a quick speed paint of two statues. Not sure were the other column is at the moment, but this one was out while I was painting the angel of death so it got paint too.

She fit very snuggly into that base. I'm debating whether or not she'll stay in it.

The pair. Also the angel without the base.

The bimonthly resolutionary challenge in the Reaper forums is to get about 4-5 minis painted each month, and also there are some bonus challenges. This February, like last year, one of the bonus challenges is to paint a minature with your fingers. No brushes allowed. And no fingers of other, smaller people either. And it needs to be a creature, not scenery.
      Challenge accepted. Again.
      Last year I fingerpainted this:

      77368 Shadow Demon

This year, I am doing this:

The Bones 2 “77372 Burrowing Horror”. Basically a teeny tiny Tarrasque. Technically I probably should have done the primer with my fingers as well, but seeing as it was undercoated by spraycan many moons ago, there have not been any brushes on it. So there.
In preparation for this, I have let my fingernails grow a couple of weeks…since my fingertips are way to big to get at any details at all…but a fingernail, both edge and torn, does the trick!

These are the colours I used for this. I picked them as I went along, only having a vague idea of how this was going to end up.
The miniature was baseless, so I made a base for it:

Bespoke 3D printed 80 x 55 mm oval lipped base.

Starting by dipping my finger in a pool of Scalecolor Heavy Metal (=midtone silver) I wiped the finger a bit and “drybrushed” the whole model with a movement from front to back on the model. A few goes at this covered nicely:

This was followed by a highlight of Army Painter Shining Silver on the ridges and main plated of the head and tail, taking care to not cover up all the Heavy Metal.

After that, some Vallejo Game Color Glorious Gold on the claws

I mixed some heavy metal with the gold to create a highlight color, which I dabbed on the tips of the claws. I also tried to do the teeth in gold with the edge of a fingernail, but this did not turn out too well.

Tearing a fingernail, I used the point to paint the teeth individually, and also did the eyes in Vallejo Game Color Magic Blue, highlighted with a small dot of ancient Hobby Game Products Blue 005. The nail broke off, and I had to tear me a new one.

This I then used to clean up some areas with black lining and fixing bits I had missed or slopped the wrong color on.

I finished with some blobs of Vallejo Green Ink on the sides and underneath.
Then I had to fix all the spots of green that had gotten where they should not be.
And then I had to fix all the metal that had rubbed off here and there with my handling of the mini.

      The base:

A thick layer of Army Painter Walking Dead Dirt Spatter, followed by Reaper Pure Black on the rim.
After this was dry, I marked where the feet would be by dabbing some lighter brown on the soles of the feet and holding it to the base. This was followed by a globbing on of thinned down PVA woodworking glue to the base surface with my finger again. A couple of tufts were added straight into the wet glue and then I dipped the whole shebang in my box of flockmix.
Gently clearing flock from where the feet were to go, I put some superglue in the general areas and placed the miniature on the base, and it was done:

Painted by hand. In the most literal sense.

All in all, a fun couple of hours of getting messy fingers.  Mostly waiting for the paint to dry whilst frantically wiping at my tacky paws to get the paint off.
And at last I got to cut my fingernails down to their proper place again! Cardboard boxes being the sworn enemy of fingernails, they caused a couple of casualties at work today.

      Howdy,

For my ninth day of International Mini Painting Month I present Sister Maria from the Chronoscope Bones...

      Guns are not my fantasy...
So I gave her Seoni's Staff... (89006: Seoni, Iconic Sorceress)
and painted her as a Druid,
