[MERGED] Bones II Shipping Excitement/Wave

Recommended Posts

Morning all,

I was one of the people who received the glitchy UPS tracking e-mail without any other follow up e-mails.  As LS asked, I didn't fret and left it for a few days - trusting that most of these challenges were going to get fixed without me adding to the number of e-mails Reaper must be getting.  If I didn't here anything after a few days, then I would send an e-mail.

Turns out it was a good plan.  Though I didn't get another e-mail.  My UPS code is now working and I can see my package moving.

Moral of the story?  Give them time to sort through challenges.  They know there are things to overcome and us sending e-mails to them won't speed up the process.

Funny my tracking number is for UPS but they seem to dump packages off to my local post office about half the time.  It's a little silly because I only live 4 block from the post office and the town isn't that small

Received my shipping notification with UPS tracking last night.  UPS site not showing delivery information as of the moment.  However, the UPS site has tools that allow you to calculate estimated delivery times based on To/From Zip Codes and Shipping method.

For example, this page (www.ups.com/maps?loc=en_US) allows you to enter either a From Zipcode or To Zipcode and create a map showing the Transit times (in days) for UPS Ground, which is the UPS shipping method being used.  Here is what the Shipped from Zipcode 76210 looks like per the UPS site this morning, for UPS Ground Shipping:

You can also use this website (https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?loc=en_US) to enter in both Zipcodes (yours and Reapers - 76210) to calculate the time it will take between those specific ZipCodes.

Hope this helps those in the same situation.  Granted, weather conditions around the US may have an impact, and perhaps may be why some tracking numbers are not currently showing delivery information.  But at least this can provide a sense of how long UPS Ground shipping would take under normal conditions to get from Reaper to you.

For myself, I am looking forward to unboxing the goodies when they arrive!

It was my understanding that the snafu involved international shipping.  I am in the continental US.  So I would think that wouldn't affect me.

Unless you have a PO Box address, those were being sent via USPS along with the RoW.

Nope.  No PO Box.

At this time, from what we have been told, locked in WAVE ONE (not ROW, PO BOX or APO/FPO)has shipped and should have an email. Today's plan as last we knew, the first shipments today are WAVE ONE: ROW, PO BOX, APO/FPO immediately followed by WAVE TWO: ROW, PO BOX, APO/FPO. After that is completed, a shipping reset occurs and they continue with WAVE TWO (not ROW, PO BOX or APO/FPO) followed by WAVE THREE (not ROW, PO BOX or APO/FPO).

Some people are asking about emails. Thought my advice from yesterday might need a boost.

Give it time to get sorted out. If wave 1 and nothing is in your inbox by about noonish central time by morning tomorrow***, then send an email asking to [email protected]

The only thing to do at this time is to practice patience. Either you will receive a correct email later today or you can send us one tomorrow asking about it. Not today, emails need time to get out to you, give it until tomorrow before you email us if you feel you have an issue that needs personal attention**.

[email protected]

**remember if you email, you need to give enough information to allow us to help you in your email. with the volume of emails we receive, the more time we have to spend on tracking things down to answer your question because you don't give us the info, the less timely your response will be. Include your Invoice/order number, shipping address, all associated emails, name of project (aka KS: Bones 2) specific description of the issue and your full name in every email you send us. It really does matter.

***Originally, noon was a valid time frame, however with emails now being delayed until after the end of the business day, if I tell you noon, but you ship today, your email isn't likely to be going out until after the shift ends and I'd have to tell you to wait anyway. By trying to give you that information up front, I hope you can moderate your patience and let the system continue to work all the glitches out.

We know that everyone will receive theirs in the end. These notification email bumps are annoying not only for you but for us as well.

"I-it'll be okay, guys.  I'm sure those nice people at the factory wouldn't send us to bad places."

"It's just like the boat all over again.  We're gonna be stuck here for weeks.  I get motion sickness!"

Toy Story 6: The Adventures of Mr. Bones? ;p

Mine started at DFW Airport so I thought it was taking a flight to L.A.

Now it's in Mesquite, truck all the way.

DFWA must be the hub.

Emailing [email protected] leads to an auto reply saying they are out of the office until the 12th lol.

Yes, because I am in Boston, flying home to TX today and will gladly address the email on my return.

Another reason (albet selfish) I asked you for patience and to wait to email until tomorrow.

I am like the unpainted miniature,

A universe of possibilities.

An undelivered package,

At once shipped and not.

An e-mail lost in limbo,

Containing both good news and bad.

I am as one with the Reaper

Now UPS is annoying me. I got my notification email on the 9th, when my package arrived in Mesquite, TX.  Two days later, and I don't have a departure scan or an arrival scan anywhere else. So, now I have no idea if my Bones are just sitting in a UPS depot somewhere or are actually on their way here. I hate not knowing!

Here is my Kanjira. The pose of the monster made me think it could be a good idea too make it emerge through the Trees. A vision of Knightmare, for sure.

Also did a quick speed paint of two statues. Not sure were the other column is at the moment, but this one was out while I was painting the angel of death so it got paint too.

She fit very snuggly into that base. I'm debating whether or not she'll stay in it.

The pair. Also the angel without the base.

The bimonthly resolutionary challenge in the Reaper forums is to get about 4-5 minis painted each month, and also there are some bonus challenges. This February, like last year, one of the bonus challenges is to paint a minature with your fingers. No brushes allowed. And no fingers of other, smaller people either. And it needs to be a creature, not scenery.
      Challenge accepted. Again.
      Last year I fingerpainted this:

      77368 Shadow Demon
This year, I am doing this:

The Bones 2 “77372 Burrowing Horror”. Basically a teeny tiny Tarrasque. Technically I probably should have done the primer with my fingers as well, but seeing as it was undercoated by spraycan many moons ago, there have not been any brushes on it. So there.
In preparation for this, I have let my fingernails grow a couple of weeks…since my fingertips are way to big to get at any details at all…but a fingernail, both edge and torn, does the trick!

These are the colours I used for this. I picked them as I went along, only having a vague idea of how this was going to end up.
The miniature was baseless, so I made a base for it:

Bespoke 3D printed 80 x 55 mm oval lipped base.
Starting by dipping my finger in a pool of Scalecolor Heavy Metal (=midtone silver) I wiped the finger a bit and “drybrushed” the whole model with a movement from front to back on the model. A few goes at this covered nicely:

This was followed by a highlight of Army Painter Shining Silver on the ridges and main plated of the head and tail, taking care to not cover up all the Heavy Metal.

After that, some Vallejo Game Color Glorious Gold on the claws

I mixed some heavy metal with the gold to create a highlight color, which I dabbed on the tips of the claws. I also tried to do the teeth in gold with the edge of a fingernail, but this did not turn out too well.
Tearing a fingernail, I used the point to paint the teeth individually, and also did the eyes in Vallejo Game Color Magic Blue, highlighted with a small dot of ancient Hobby Game Products Blue 005. The nail broke off, and I had to tear me a new one.

This I then used to clean up some areas with black lining and fixing bits I had missed or slopped the wrong color on.

I finished with some blobs of Vallejo Green Ink on the sides and underneath.
Then I had to fix all the spots of green that had gotten where they should not be.
And then I had to fix all the metal that had rubbed off here and there with my handling of the mini.
      The base:

A thick layer of Army Painter Walking Dead Dirt Spatter, followed by Reaper Pure Black on the rim.
After this was dry, I marked where the feet would be by dabbing some lighter brown on the soles of the feet and holding it to the base. This was followed by a globbing on of thinned down PVA woodworking glue to the base surface with my finger again. A couple of tufts were added straight into the wet glue and then I dipped the whole shebang in my box of flockmix.
Gently clearing flock from where the feet were to go, I put some superglue in the general areas and placed the miniature on the base, and it was done:

Painted by hand. In the most literal sense.
All in all, a fun couple of hours of getting messy fingers.  Mostly waiting for the paint to dry whilst frantically wiping at my tacky paws to get the paint off.
And at last I got to cut my fingernails down to their proper place again! Cardboard boxes being the sworn enemy of fingernails, they caused a couple of casualties at work today.
