[MERGED] Bones II Shipping Excitement/Wave

Recommended Posts

Hate to break up the party, but can we keep to the relevant topic and excitement of the shipping of this kickstarter rather than talking about cities with funny names filled with innuendo that have nothing to do with this?

But you're the Dark Lord of Enablers.  How dare you not enable us?

I enable the purchasing of minis and hobby-related products!  :poke:

Which reminded me, time to go buy some paint and sealer and a few practice minis.  Thanks!

Ok, this is weird, I just got another Reaper shipping email (I was expecting to).

The problem is that the tracking number in the email isn't my Bones II tracking number. It's my CAV tracking info. (worth noting I already have my Bones in hand, so nbd...but just an FYI there may be some database confusion going on here).

Should I be worried that my UPSMI tracking number still only says my package was received? Is this just cause they have handed it off to someone else? If it has been sitting there all week doing nothing that sucks.

I just got a new level of annoyance from UPSMI.

After exactly a week of saying the package was received, I now get a Not Available in big red letters when I use the tracking number.

Mine now has finally moved. It says it's in Illinois, which is closer to me than it was, so yay. Big booooo to UPS though, come on guys, what's the point of a tracking number that appears to show your things teleporting?

Also I just got permission from my manager to take an extended lunch break if I think the package is going to arrive, so I sure hope that when this gets passed to Canada Post I get a (working) tracking number because that would be awesome :D

The list somehow seems longer every time I look at it....

Probably because you now have the things on there that were missed because of Commagate.  ::P:

Actually I never got the commagate one.

It's just that every time I look I notice something new.  Like "oh, I got 2 Mashaafs??"

At the same time I'm going, "I'm gonna need to order another Burrowing Horror (anyone else notice the typo on the list...Burrowing Horrow) or three."

I just got an email that has a shipping date of 01/29/15, but I already have my Bones II which was shipped on 02/11/15 according to UPS and I got CAV 2-3 months ago.  And according to the tracking number, the package has just departed my City...  this is interesting.

I think they tied it back to the wrong KS database.  LOL

Either that, or it's a single database and their system wasn't expecting a single email address to appear more than once, and grabbed the older KS order first.

After I signed up for the CAV pledge manager, it acted like I had changed my password for the Bones II pledge manager. I have to use the same password for both, although they seem to be distinct databases.

How's this for Bones II excitement. I'm Wave 1 ROW(FPO). It will be delivered to my friend's address and he will pass it off to me.

Anxiously awaiting the mail I know should arrive today so when I wake up 30 minutes ago (7:00 am Japan time) I am overjoyed to find something from Kickstarter/Reaper in my In Box. *Pours a cup of coffee and prepares himself* Noooo, it's the mail reminding everyone to lock in.

Not more than 10 seconds later an email arrives directly from Reaper with a USPS tracking number! The actual mail. Drum roll...

The first words I see are "DELIVERED" It took me at leas a minute before I realized that they sent my CAV:SO tracking number. WahWah!

Not even annoyed. It's actually kind of funny. Way to build the tension, Reaper. Now for the real tracking number. Message sent.

Guess I'm not alone!

I don't think that has been asked (or answered) before.  43+ lbs combined to Sweden! I thought my shipping cost a lot....

Every so often, a model catches my attention. Sometimes because it is excellent and inspiring, sometimes because there is something off about it. Sometimes the model is both.  Here is one such example:

Yeah, it is the angle of the buckler thats just wrong. It simply should not happen. It triggers my OCD.
This is the "Gnoll Warrior" from the "Thank You pack" add-on in the second Bones kickstarter. During the kickstarter it was presented as a line concept drawing and as is usually the case, the resulting miniature ends up slightly different. Still a perfectly good representation of the original concept art, but anyhow.
That said, I do understand that one-piece castability requires certain angles and alignments for the mould to work, and to get the detail in the shield to show it cannot be sideways in the mould. There have been plenty of examples of minis in strange poses and/or holding things at strange angles because of this.
This Gnoll is also stylistically rather different from the other Gnolls Reaper makes in Bones, perhaps it's just not so comic-like?
      But I ramble.
The other day as I yet again was perusing the Drawers of Doom™, I picked this one for the painting table. But first it got to meet Mr. Scalpel for a field amputation followed by a quick rotation and graft:
One drop of superglue later the case of the misaligned buckler was solved.
Add a base and some paint:

Good thing classic Bones material is really easy to slice and reposition. Such an excellent material for convertions as well.

Jagged white parallells of sharp fangs emerged into the campfire light, then a staring yellow eye. Inquisitive, roughly probing clawed fingers followed. Snorting, foul breath enveloped me, causing me to gag.
It jerked its beast-like head back, loud barks of mocking laughter spraying spittle in my face as I tried to stand my ground.
"I smell fright, little man", the gnoll rasped out at last. "Why's that parlay-totem here?"
This mini was finished September 12th 2020.

The last few weeks have been very busy with very little time or inspiration to paint, as the general lack of posts lately will bear full witness to.

As you might imagine, I was going for green magical flames.  I struggled with this, and it did not turn out as I had envisioned it.
This one I count as a bit of a failure, and I am not at all satisfied with how it turned out. Maybe I will repaint the whole thing at some point but for now I am rather sick of it.
At leaast it does look much better IRL on the table than when magnified in photos. Somthing which is a small comfort. The white for "teeth" does not work at all in the pictures and I might just redo that part and leave the rest alone. Or not. The wierd thing is that the white "teeth" are not that bad IRL. But once seen, it cannot be unseen...

      What is this sorcery?!
Gah! Even the captions are uninspired. I should probably just go to bed.

Here is my Kanjira. The pose of the monster made me think it could be a good idea too make it emerge through the Trees. A vision of Knightmare, for sure.

Also did a quick speed paint of two statues. Not sure were the other column is at the moment, but this one was out while I was painting the angel of death so it got paint too.

She fit very snuggly into that base. I'm debating whether or not she'll stay in it.

The pair. Also the angel without the base.
