Location : Belgium

Date : 02/19/2015

Local Time : 3:25 P.M.

Activity : Shipment Acceptance at international carrier

I got almost the same message (even time stamp), save that my location is Canada.

No address, just Canada.

This is, curiously enough, an improvement.

Wow. All of this vague international tracking makes me feel bad for worrying about my shipment that "departed Dallas TX" 30 hours ago for my city in Indiana, a journey of ~ 12 hours...

I imagine my Bones got fed up with carrier delays and are having wacky adventures while on foot en route to my place?

Maybe the ones "somewhere in the Pacific" are swimming (fighting sea monster and pirates) during their journey to their new home?

If it works like last time it ended up over here in a little over a week, at my door in close to two iirc (a bit of a customs delay).

Was definitely not the "standard" shipping I usually get from the U.S that takes at least 2 weeks to even make Norway.

My package is in Norway! :D According to the UPS-site. Let us hope that the customs people will be quick :)

UPS is being too damned slow with my package!  It was labelled and sent out on 2/17, and it hasn't even left TX yet!  It's moved a whole 14 miles from Dallas to Mesquite!  I think they are being passive aggressive  :poke:

Of course, it doesn't help that they picked things up on the 17th, but it didn't get it's origin scan in Dallas until 10PM on the 18th.

And this is why I hate the internet.  Because I know where my package is and I have to wait.  It was so much easier in the old days without minute to minute tracking updates so I could be oblivious and simply have a surprise at my door.

Mine did something like that. It apparently teleported from Mesquite, TX to Roanoke, VA because there was neither exit scan from Mesquite or receipt scan at Roanoke. I did get my package within a few days of it getting to Mesquite, though.

It just occurred to me that this kind of stuff is why they named it Quantum View.  It's tunneling in action on a macro scale.

No wonder shipping is getting so expensive.

Your suggestion--that UPS leaves packages in a warehouse until random chance takes over and they tunnel to another location--would explain a lot about international shipping. Like how infrequently it seems to occur. And the low probability of everything getting where it's supposed to be the first time around.

That would save so much fuel!

Unless it needs some fuel tanks next to the warehouse to happen.. And the energy required is simply siphoned off those, in the same quantum tunnelling process..

It's ALL COMING TOGETHER!!

Nah, that's Schrödinger's Bones.

Hmm, when I receive my package I don't know if it will have mispacks in it.. And the process of checking has a nonzero chance of me loosing parts. Schrödinger's  mispack!

This is why I am not tracking my package, TBH.

When i shipped my exchange mini to NZ it via UPS it stopped in Bensenville and then was delivered within 48 hours..

I'm now facing Bensenville and praying, 48 hours from yesterday would mean a very happy Saturday.

Of course my wife may not be quite so happy covering for my sudden onset of Bonesitis and have to do all the parental taxi duties.

Bonesitis? That's a funny name for a horrible disease.

We still have about 350 wave 1 Internationals that we are having to manually input data from a corrupted export. We are working on it.

Did the 350 manual internationals get sent?

There are still a few on the KS comments that haven't received an email yet.

Just wondering if they should be emailing yet or waiting...

My tracking just updated now. Spent a couple of days in Bensenville and now in Canada somewhere as of 1:46pm yesterday. Oddly enough I got all of the emails and they all were correct except the tracking number on the first one from Reaper. Here's hoping that they clear customs ok and will be here early next week! No estimated time of delivery that I can find.

Starting to get more excited all the time. I can't wait to open the box, sort through them all, paint one or two and then pack the rest away until some time in the future when I get more hobby time.

I've not had anything yet.  I will wait a while longer before bugging Lady Storm.

Every so often, a model catches my attention. Sometimes because it is excellent and inspiring, sometimes because there is something off about it. Sometimes the model is both.  Here is one such example:

Yeah, it is the angle of the buckler thats just wrong. It simply should not happen. It triggers my OCD.
This is the "Gnoll Warrior" from the "Thank You pack" add-on in the second Bones kickstarter. During the kickstarter it was presented as a line concept drawing and as is usually the case, the resulting miniature ends up slightly different. Still a perfectly good representation of the original concept art, but anyhow.
That said, I do understand that one-piece castability requires certain angles and alignments for the mould to work, and to get the detail in the shield to show it cannot be sideways in the mould. There have been plenty of examples of minis in strange poses and/or holding things at strange angles because of this.
This Gnoll is also stylistically rather different from the other Gnolls Reaper makes in Bones, perhaps it's just not so comic-like?
      But I ramble.
The other day as I yet again was perusing the Drawers of Doom™, I picked this one for the painting table. But first it got to meet Mr. Scalpel for a field amputation followed by a quick rotation and graft:
One drop of superglue later the case of the misaligned buckler was solved.
Add a base and some paint:

Good thing classic Bones material is really easy to slice and reposition. Such an excellent material for convertions as well.

Jagged white parallells of sharp fangs emerged into the campfire light, then a staring yellow eye. Inquisitive, roughly probing clawed fingers followed. Snorting, foul breath enveloped me, causing me to gag.
It jerked its beast-like head back, loud barks of mocking laughter spraying spittle in my face as I tried to stand my ground.
"I smell fright, little man", the gnoll rasped out at last. "Why's that parlay-totem here?"

This mini was finished September 12th 2020.

The last few weeks have been very busy with very little time or inspiration to paint, as the general lack of posts lately will bear full witness to.

As you might imagine, I was going for green magical flames.  I struggled with this, and it did not turn out as I had envisioned it.
This one I count as a bit of a failure, and I am not at all satisfied with how it turned out. Maybe I will repaint the whole thing at some point but for now I am rather sick of it.
At leaast it does look much better IRL on the table than when magnified in photos. Somthing which is a small comfort. The white for "teeth" does not work at all in the pictures and I might just redo that part and leave the rest alone. Or not. The wierd thing is that the white "teeth" are not that bad IRL. But once seen, it cannot be unseen...

      What is this sorcery?!
Gah! Even the captions are uninspired. I should probably just go to bed.

      Your basic normal-sized wolf:

      And Black Panther.

Alas, the fangs I painstakingly painted in do not show up in the photo.

Here is my Kanjira. The pose of the monster made me think it could be a good idea too make it emerge through the Trees. A vision of Knightmare, for sure.

Also did a quick speed paint of two statues. Not sure were the other column is at the moment, but this one was out while I was painting the angel of death so it got paint too.

She fit very snuggly into that base. I'm debating whether or not she'll stay in it.

The pair. Also the angel without the base.
