77157: Valentines Griffon

So, the bonus challenge for the February resolutionary paint challenge was to make a miniature that 'embodied Valentine's day'. And I was reminded of the someecard that said, "Life is short, so tell people you love them. But yell it at them in German because life is also terrifying." So I went digging through my minis, looking for something with wings, and came up with either the griffon or the owlbear. When I asked the hubs, we decided on the griffon because it's funny, and because my brother's name is Griffin, so painting something pink with hearts and calling it him is funnier. (Sorry bro.) 

 

I also decided if I was going to go for it, I was going to go as ridiculous as possible.... So here he is, in all his pink, heart glory. 

As you can see, I made him a cute little quiver and an arrow with the hubs and my initials (awwww). And I painted his pupils as hearts (not sure if you can tell)...

 

I would like to take this time to apologize to any sculptor I ever said anything bad about, because playing with greenstuff is not nearly as fun as I thought it should be. 

 

The bow and arrow are the completely wrong scale.. I wasn't optimistic enough to sculpt one, so I had to cut some poor Medusa's arm off.

I can't. :( my phone camera is not the best, but it is definitely better than the actual camera I have....somewhere... :)

If you zoom in on the 4th picture you can see it pretty clearly. That was the best shot I got of them.

 Being an '80's kid, anytime I see something pink, I immediately think of either Capt'n Crunch Crunchberries or Frankenberry cereal and how it used to turn the milk all pink, lol...

Haha, that's pretty cool! Nice job, they eyes look great! Nice job making the script legible, too. I've tried that a few times, and it generally ends up getting painted over.

That is hilarious. The eyes look awesome. When you have a pink Griffin I don't think it matters if the bow and arrow are in the right scale. :-) they look good anyway, nice touch. Clapclapclapclap

Something in pink that will rip out my heart does equate to my Valentine's Day experiences. That down bit aside, your creation is WONDERFULLY imaginative, BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. VERY WELL DONE!

I didn't realize it, but tentacle pink and bleached bone do make bubblegum pink!

 

For the script, I used a script brush and used black first, then the white on top.
