Awesome.

I have been watching this thread since the beginning and should have commented earlier just to tell you how cool I thought this is.

Now, this is getting to the point of epicness!

I would love to have a game on a board like this!

Keep it up man and keep sharing!

Okay, three small peaks are done and glued, but are resting on the main sheets.post-9266-0-53226800-1430527531_thumb.jpg

Here is a detachment of the Mustard boys I just received from Spaztica. I will have to start cutting back the cut the boys are traveling up as I almost cannot get my hand in to move the tanks. post-9266-0-21440800-1430527674_thumb.jpg  So you have an idea of how high this will get.  These peaks are only 23" - 25" high.

In this last photo the remaining area with the highest peaks will go almost to the ceiling, which will be about 45" high. post-9266-0-41706100-1430527910_thumb.jpg

Thank you to everyone for the encouraging comments.  I had my doubts about continuing but I will press on, it may just work out in spite of the out of scale look (to me anyway).

Well it seems the over sized thickness has been beneficial after all. In the tight turns certain CAVs and armor over hang their positions and tanks like the Lance have long barrels that just fit under the vehicle just one level above.  Here the Rhino will have to be a rear guard, it just will not go far before it is stopped.post-9266-0-55722400-1430572585_thumb.jpg

Here are a few shots of the amount of space they have:post-9266-0-74898200-1430573110_thumb.jpgpost-9266-0-75950700-1430572801_thumb.jpg

The boys continue their advance up the mountain.  Hope they did their recon of the tunnel coming up.  Heck of a time to find out someone cannot make it through.post-9266-0-68086500-1430572979_thumb.jpg

I am splitting up the upper mountains in an attempt to keep from insulating two small houses due to waste.post-9266-0-21220600-1430573237_thumb.jpg  The grid is an attempt to get an idea of how many more levels I can fit in for the Infantry before they have to have a crossover point to the next board.

Almost four foot high huh?

Awesome.

I think it will be more awesome to try to paint these mountains when they are done.  Probably a gallon... 2(?) of house paint.

Now I am starting to bring up the other side:post-9266-0-04767200-1430668298_thumb.jpg  At some point the right side will recede till it matches the left side:post-9266-0-13866000-1430668385_thumb.jpg   As indicated on the left side foam level 14 from where the right side is, will be the point where the Infantry trail will cross over the ridge:post-9266-0-58186700-1430668817_thumb.jpg   An overall view of the progress:post-9266-0-21481800-1430668076_thumb.jpg   The boys are making it through the tunnel, too bad the Rhino could not make the trail, as it would pass through the tunnel:post-9266-0-50712000-1430668459_thumb.jpg  The journey continues.

Well not much done here, now that Global Warming finally showed up after 7+ months of below normal cold. ITS SPRING CLEANING TIME!  So here is where I am at, close to the crossover point.

I am running out of foam for major structures but should have enough to complete the left hand peak.post-9266-0-08109700-1430932819_thumb.jpgpost-9266-0-89263100-1430932934_thumb.jpgpost-9266-0-30160800-1430933064_thumb.jpg  I am at the 26" level with 19" to go to the tops of the mountains.  Let me see, one nearing completion and three to go...  maybe I am looking at insulating three small houses.

Insanely awesome sir.

With all the effort I hope this is very playable.

Pretty wild I think.  If not playable then it will make a good display stand(s).

Here are two views with the right peak complete.  Two peaks on the right to go then everything will be dismantled to start the gluing down of most of the levels.post-9266-0-62378200-1430962376_thumb.jpgpost-9266-0-82308300-1430962621_thumb.jpg

you need to get yourself or your saintly wife in the pictures for scale.   I say saintly cause mine would have had me certified and committed by halfway through this project.
