77004: Cave Troll

I finally finished another batch of Bones: 1 x Cave Troll (77004) from Ben Siens. The other is the metal version (SKU 02416), which I had laying around since like 2001. I didn't notice any differences when painting them, they are big enough and don't have sharp edges that could be lost in the bones version. So they're great for their price.

 

These baddies were used in my D&D game a couple of weeks ago, attacking the PC's caravan at the Trollclaw ford in FR. I more or less painted them as swamp trolls. Hope you like them!

Well done.  I can't decide which I like better.  The cool vs. warm study on identical minis is really neat.  Love it.  that orange is almost glowing though.

Those look fantastic. I would guess the orange one was the metal. But it's only a guess.

I would guess the blue because it looks like there's a minuscule loss of definition in the spine of the orange. A good one to show bones naysayers though.

Thank you very much :) Indeed, this could serve as a nice comparison of bones vs. metal. Haven't thought about that.

 

Yes, the orange is bright, but that is intentional. I wanted those warts/troll egg sacks? to look really dangerous. Also, we are playing in dim light, so bright colors can be seen better at the gaming table and I easily know which troll is which hitpoint-wise ^^

You've got a very good eye, mister! Yes, the blueish troll is the metal version. But with the "orange" troll, I didn't highlight the spine so much per se.

I like them both. I think I like the orange warts better but if I had two of them I think I'd like to paint them up with variation of colors as you have done.  They both came out looking good though. Well done.
