Gelatinous Cube as a waterfall?

So my four year insisted on going through the Bones in more depth this morning. I think he might have been more excited then anyone else I know getting bones 2.

Then he came across the gelatinous cube. "It's clear. Let's open this one." After I opened it he looked at the two halves and said "It's a waterfall".

Looking at them add individual pieces they do look like waterfalls and gives me an evil idea. The adventurers come across an underground waterfall and if the stop to rest have then attacked by the gelatinous cube that was hovering over the real waterfall.

Or occupying the area just behind the waterfall, so the water cascades over and conceals its gelatinous surface. It could live there feeding on fish, critters, or organic material swept down the underground stream.... like a giant anemone.

Great idea!

Conceivably this could happen above ground, facing northish or deep overhang to avoid direct sunlight, where the gelatinous cube lives and hides leads underground to a dungeon or caverns.

Oh, that's evil.

Back in the day, my players stopped to investigate ALL waterfalls, certain that something had a lair or cave behind there...

I still do this, in Skyrim and the like. Immediately charge into waterfalls, searching for the grotto behind.

Hmmm, interesting. I'll have to remember this.
